The Team Professional is a timeless Brooks Classic Saddle for sports riders. A lot of craftsmanship is needed for this model to hammer the big copper rivets and chamfer the leather on the sides with a special knife. The ladies version is called the Team Professional S. The ladies model with titanium rails is called the Finesse!
I read so many good things about the Brooks leather saddles that I had to go for one of them. The B17 narrow was the first candidate, then the B17 Special Champion and finally the Team Prom, a little narrower and shorter than the others and beautifly built.
A saddle must be the most important part to buy, specially if you do long rides....
I had prepared myself to give this saddle a good chance to brake in and mould to my anatomy... so many people give up before the saddle has a chance to brake in.... I was not going to make the same mistake :-)
From the box to my bike, a few adjusments here and there and mmmmm it felt kind of hard in the first few minutes but just hand on for a few more minutes... one or two more adjustments and it is hard but feels very comfortable. I'm sure that by the time the saddle is broken in it will be fantastic. As it is right now the saddle is more comfortable than my previous gel saddle and for longer ride it can only get better.
Well, the miles counter reads over 1000 miles and I can forget my saddle when I'm riding these days. The saddle is broken in and it is a pleasure to ride on it. It took about 500 miles to break in but it wasn't too bad, it was a lot more comfortable than riding on my old saddle anyway.
I will buy another Team Pro saddle for my MTB...
Assuming your backside is compatible with brooks saddles then if you tend to ride in the large rear cogs or simply take it easy then don't buy this saddle. However, if you ride mostly in the mid range cogs and you push those pedals a bit, about 16 mls or more in a road bike, then go for it as you will love this saddle. As long as some of your weight is on those pedals you will love this saddle.
For an easy ride the B17 is the better choice.
