The Nuke Proof Shockwave Titanium spring is the Ultimate in coil spring technology and the must have upgrade for any coil sprung mountain bike. Saving weight is mega important, even for today's downhillers where acceleration out of corners and along flat sections can win or lose a race. Today many Freeride and all mountain riders are moving back to coil shocks as they just cant get that 'buttery smooth' feeling out of an Air shock and for these riders Ti is the solution for the best performance with minimal weight.

The Nuke Proof Ti Spring has a 36mm inside diameter and will fit most oversize shocks including, Fox DHX coil, Manitou Swinger, Revox Coil and Progressive 5th Coil.
How do I choose the correct size?
There are three important things you need to know about your set-up.
1. The Stroke of your shock - This is the actual travel of the shock itself. To measure this, measure the visible part of the shock shaft in Inches 1" = 25.4mm (This is the part that disappears as the shock compresses)
2. The Maximum Spring Free length that your shock will take. To do this wind the preload off completely and measure from the inside of the spring collar to the inside of the preload nut.
3. Spring rate in Lbs. - Spring rate refers to the stiffness of the spring and will vary due to rider weight, riding style/discipline, Leverage ratio of the bike, and suspension design. As a general rule you are trying to achieve the correct amount of sag. Sag is the amount your suspension travels when you're sitting on your seat, feet on your pedals and hands on the bars. This should be around 1/3 of the total travel on a DH bike and 1/4 of the total travel on an XC All mountain bike (This can vary due to suspension design and personal preference)
Once you have established the answer to 1,2,3 you need to choose your spring using the following rules
1.Spring Stroke should be Equal to or Greater than Stroke of the shock
2.Spring Length should be less than the Max Free length of the shock (This is so the spring physically fits)
3.Spring Rate should be correct to suit your body weight, bike and riding style
EG. If your stroke is 2.8", your rate is 450Lbs and your max free length is 165mm.
You need - 3" x 450Lbs x 162mm i.e - If you dont see a spring that has the exact stroke of your shock you can use a spring with a longer stroke, as long as the free length will fit.

| I nearly never rate anything 5, BUT There is something seroiusly cool and insane about this spring, it just makes your bike that bit cooler and crazier than lets say a Fox Ti springs or simialr would do, Put it on my Manitou shock (just wiggle the spring on) Oh my, seroious blingage. and super PLuuuuuuuuuuushhhhhhh
But yes I only loss 150 grams,(ya very funny...) but Who cares?!?! this is the best think you can do to pimp your bike. No regreats.

| Velo, you obviously dont actually own one of these because your talking out your a**e. They dont fit Vanilla shocks (Like the one you supposidly have) because the inner diametre of the coil is too big. (Hense why it fits the DH-X). And changing to Ti would in no way make your bike feel like a hardtail. Your just another Ti hater. Anyways, this spring only saved 175 grams compared to the stock one on my DH-X5, but i dont reli care, its soooooo PIMP!!! Nd feels alot more active than the dull steel one it replaced. Reli worthwile if your racing, or if you just wanna be pimp. |

| "Not good! My old steel spring 450 is much plusher and works better then this ti spring. I have specialized big hit FSR 2005 with FOX vanilla R 8.75x2.5. Ordered this ti spring 450x3.0 and I was not wondered, now by bike is like hardtail, VERY hard rear suspension! And the spring is LONG for my rear shock so don't buy 3.0 if your rear shock is 8.75x2.5(2.75) like my. I try to sell it now for half price.."
WHAT A TIT VELO IS, why would you buy a 3" when yours is 2.5 you ideot, and the reason it is so hard is because a 3" spring is set up for a frame with more leverage, if your gona slate a rpoduct then atleast buy the correct one!!!!!!!!
p.s. I have this spring and it was half the weight of my Steely, very happy with it, and is very good over small bumps which is the only diffrenct in performance i felt. |
