Does the job very well. It's adjustable so you can take normal bottles and smaller evian/perrier bottles. This adjustability means the Modula can also take the Cateye SLA battery comfortably, without distorting. There are also loops that will accept velcro straps in case you need to strap something into it.
I've got through numerous other types of bottle cage, mainly 'cos they split at the weld. This one is still going strong.
If you remove the retaining washer you can easily remove the metal bit by hand. This gives your bike a more streamlined look when you aren't carrying a bottle.
One very small downside is that the o-ring round the adjusting screw has perished, making it uncomfortable to adjust/remove by hand. Use an allen key and it's not really a problem.
Not a bad price either, considering its features.
My last (anonymous) review was some time ago and I'm glad to say that I still give this 5/5. As I said before, I've gone through a few other brands of cages but this one is still going strong.
It fits to the frame using standard bottle-cage fixings via allen bolts. Sorry, I can't remember if the bolts were supplied or not. Perhaps CRC can answer this one for you?
The black bit you can see in the picture is the main body made of hard plastic, so it's very durable. Mine still looks new after two years of being fitted to my bike in all weathers. The metal cagey bit screws in and out from the main body on two sliders, so you can adjust the size of bottle/battery that it will comfortably accept. In the bottom of the picture you can make out the head of the screw.
The screw and the two sliders make up the three prongs that join the sliding cage to the main body. You can only just make these out in the picture.
I always take the metal bit off when I'm not using it. This keeps the bike looking streamlined and saves a few grams ;) When you need it, it takes seconds to re-screw the cage to the body with your fingers (proving you remove and throw away the retaining clip first - it's a nuisance)
It's hard to get too excited about a bottle cage, but for the quality, price and versatility it's hard to beat. Get one.
Its brilliant, i was worrying about buying a cage that didn't fit the bottle i wanted but this cage is excellent in my opinion, adjusts easy and i've not had my bottle fall out yet (got my bottle mounted on underside of the frame)
Looks good too!!!
