I bought these to replace some thin neoprene booties which had seen better days. Wanted something breathable but warm. I have previously tried lots of combinations to keep my feet warm (my biggest problem in the winter). Did not buy them for wet weather. Love the style, fit and comfort (no zips). Was worried that the reflective piping on the side would not be visible from the back, because of where they are positioned, they are visible from back and front. I am size 46 in a roadshoe and XXL has some room to spare. Used them this morning, down to 3 deg C with merino socks and after 1 hour, my feet were cold again but not numb. They did start off nice and warm though. I would say the main problem is my feet/shoes and not the overshoes. Next step is maybe some toe covers under the overshoes?
I've just bought a 3rd pair of these last week and used them on a 3 hour + ride in the rain, they are not waterproof but they did well until about 2 hours in. They still kept my feet warm when combined with a pair of sealskin socks. I've also used heavier zipped overshoes but the zips always break so these are better. Just 2 bits of advice, put them on before you put your shoes on(!)and don't walk too far in them as they will wear out around the heal within minutes.
This shoe kept my feet dry for almost an hour's riding in the rain, but finally let the rain in. They did keep my feet warm even after the water got in. In short, quite a good shoe for the money.
