Had another night ride yesterday and my newly repaired light worked really well. Used in conjunction with a headtorch it was a effective combination. The light has a nice beam - not too wide with good penetration, unit is fantastic value for money - take a look at what else is on offer for £70 with 240 lumens of output. Used for 2 hours so far on 2600 mah rechargeables and no sign of fade yet. Do yourself a favour and buy 1, better still buy 2 and have 500 lumens of light for a min of 3 hours for £140 no brainer!
Good light from Hope, does exactly what it says on the tin, use quality batteries i.e 2700amh and it gives you a run time of aboout 3 hours at 240 lumens. Its quite chunky and a bit too heavy for helmet use but looks retro mounted on me handlebars on my old kona fixed road bike. The light bracket doesnt look much but secures the light really tight to the bars and is easy to fit, I also like the fact that the batteries go into the light unit and are not external unlike some other brands, plus the light looks and feels well built, it also comes with a lanyard so can be used as a general light for other night activities which is a nice touch. If you wanna light for helmet use then look somewhere else, but if you wanna good commuting light and are not worried bout the weight of things and dont want the hassle of external batteries and dodgy connections then this is not a bad light to go for. Just received and tested it. Excellent build quality and never under estimate this little one. Hope could make it a more user friendly gadget with better battery management, but it is like many mean machine that it takes a little more than an average user to enjoy the benefit of such creation. You got to admire Hope for the look and details that make your lesser headlamp a piece of crap to be given away to kid next door. I will enjoy my ride to work place at night more with extra security and increased speed.
