First outing in the snow and ice with a pair of these this week - great grip and no issues, really confidence inspiring - don't know why I didn't get some years ago. I'll probably leave them on until the spring - if you keep the pressure high then they sound fairly normal on the road (just the slightly odd sound of Rice Krispies being crushed). They are a bit on the hefty side but that does seem to help plough through ridges in the snow.
I bought one of these last winter and used it for about 4 months (had it on the front). It kept me from crashing on the icey roads and even helped when it snowed. Rolled well on the road when fully inflated (do this when its dry and not icey). A bit heavy when compared to your average MTB tyre. No problems regarding wear and I only lost one stud
