Description
If you are the kind of ride who puts their saddle down for descents, then the Crank Brother Joplin L Seatpost is the answer to your prayers. With just a quick flick of the under saddle lever, you can drop your saddle by 75mm (3in), enough for even the gnarliest descent. And when you get to the bottom, just unweight the saddle, press the lever and you’ll have the saddle back up to full height for the climb back up.
The Joplin seatpost works on the same principle as your typical office chair, the seatpost's hydraulic action allows you to instantly fine tune your seat height, and therefore your riding position. If you don’t want to drop the saddle the whole way down, fine, just let go the lever once your saddle is at the desired height and you are ready to ride. No more interrupting the flow while you mess around with your seat collar. Just get on your bike and ride.
Features:
• material - aluminum • post length - 382mm • weight – 461g • adjustment range - 75mm / 3in. • diameters available - 30.9mm and 31.6mm • warranty - 2 years
After having had a good look at post it is extremly important not to over tighten seal head, it must only be just tight enough to neatly snug together bush and wiper seal, this is to allow the seal to move slightly under seal head so it moves with post, if over tightend wiper seal will leave a small gap and crap can get in,you could also use a lizard skin to cut down service intervals, hope this has been of some help.
Had this for about a month. Does exactly what you'd expect. I have fitted a lizard skin to mine to keep it clean. Small bit of play in the system but not noticeable when out riding. I have a spare setup for muddy rides...no point in trashing such a beautiful item for no reason. Transforms your riding to be able to get the optimum seat height for any given piece of trail. Your mates will be jealous
I have had my Joplin about a year now. Had similar problems to another review in getting the seat clamp tension right - too tight and it could stop the seat post moving but that one's easily solved! I have fitted a piece of old inner tube over the post, cable tied top and bottom and sprayed with a light coating of silicone inside to prevent it sticking. After a lot of use in wet/muddy conditions, and servicing every few months (an easy job after the first go) it's still showing no signs of wear or tear. Really pleased with it, I just wish all my friends had them so I didn't have to wait for them to adjust their seat posts!
