Really really pleased with the purchase. Bought as my first road bike, and can do nothing but praise it! Acceleration is fantastic, and the shimano 105 groupset are more than up to the job.
i replaced tires with michelin pro 3 race and cornering has improved. is a fun bike that has a sporty feel and still comfortable.
i'm able to cruise on the flats at 21mph pretty comfortably, managed to sprint up to 32 on the flat. top bike!
I hunted around for ages looking for a suitable road bike with good spec that was also good value. Coming from a MTB background, this is my first road bike. I wanted something that was light and fast, so I could get the training miles in. Compared with the equivalent Specialized (Allez), Giant and Scott road bikes for £500 to £650, the BeOne Storm 1.0 blows them away!
Not only is the hydroformed frame light and a work of art, the spec (mostly Shimano 105) is fantastic for a bike just shy of £600. Nothing else comes close! My only niggle is that BeOne have included cheap unbranded seatpost, bars and stem to keep the price down (and OK Alex rims). My first stem wouldn't tighten properly, so CRC sent an identical replacemet ASAP. SAME PROBLEM! The bolts just kept turning - cheap and nasty. Anyway, fair dos to CRC, it was replaced with a four bolt Ritchey Comp stem - so much better!
With some decent Shimano clipless pedals added, the bike goes hell for leather! The triple ring is fantastic on big hills, and its so light (compared to my full suss MTB)!!!! on big cimbs.
I would say buy this bike ASAP before they sell out! The new Storm (2009 model) is £300 more expensive!
Never thought I'd go over to the dark side, but this is ALMOST as much fun as hurtling down a rock-strewn mountain.
Thanks to CRC for excellent customer service too.
This is a great bike for the money, the only one I know with 105 group for less than 500 quid!! Just beware the sizing given on the Chain Reaction website. I ordered a 55cm and this is 55cn from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, effect top tube length is also 55cm. I'm 5ft 9" with a 31 seam and it's a bit of a stretch for me, I had to change the stem to a 90mm and it's now okay. If you are any less than my height (or even equal)I would suggest going with the 52cm.
