These tyres are brilliant! Grip in all conditions is amazing. I had Mountain Kings on before and had quite a few grip related crashes, been running these for a year now and not had one! I run the black chilli (not UST) 2.2 version, but tubeless with milk (@35psi), so I can't comment on puntures as I never get any. They also roll quite well for a grippy tyre.
I've been using these for the last 18 months and am currently running a 2.2. on the front of my Evil Sovereign. I've tried loads of different high volume tyres but have always found it difficult to get a tyre that can give me everything i want:
Speed - rolls pretty quick for a chunky tyre. Grip - simply awesome - never had a front wheel washout on me with one of these. Volume - Lovely size and cushioning in the 2.2 but nice and stable as well.
I'm 18 stone and ride some pretty gnarly trails, some downhill, freeride and trail centres on these tyres and i have to say it is one of the best all rounders in the wet or dry. Leave it on the front for all year round, all discipline riding and be confident it'll handle everything you can throw at it.
Running mine on an EX500 rim tubeless with cafe latex sealant and it works a treat.
Buy one - stick it on the front, get wreckless and prepare to be amazed.
Best all mountain tyre so far. 2.4 gives lots of grip, predictable, rolls well for such a big tyre, even fairly good in mud although it is more of a dry condition tyre. BC is the way to go. Pressures can be fairly low, 25 front 28 back. Might be worth teaming up with the new 2.3 Baron BC front and RQ back.
