If you can afford one get one!!! It is as simple as that! Fit a Chris King Reducer for 1"1/8 or 1.5" fit your fork of choice 140 or 160 mm and build, Xtr is still the best and rip up the trails. I have just completed 70 k's over this weekend and it was the best, the new vpp is a major change and well worth it. As I said if you can afford it buy it you will never look back.
I got one of these in the works red colour, It Looks even better in the flesh.
Ive had mine a month now and Ive been out on it loads, i love this frame, Ive taken it to a Kirroughtree and some unofficial local singletrack near where I live... It's an immense frame...
At first I ran it with U-turn Pikes and a flush XC Cane Creek headset. I felt that the stack of the headset was to short with the 140MM forks and didn't make the ride downhill all that inspiring, so I took the plunge and spent more money and got me the standard headset which changed things dramatically, The higher stack made the geometry much slacker and the ride is now totally immense and inspiring... it totally feels planted and almost as if you wont fall off. I personally wouldn't recommend using a flush headset unless your going to use longer forks.
As for going up hill a few turns of the U-turn on the pikes and flick of the pro-pedal on the rear shock and the Tracer is climbing up hill as good as it does it down hill.... I had a Heckler prier to this frame and the Tracer defo climbs up hill much much more efficiently.. I'm climbing more technical ascents and I'm able to keep going for longer..
I know it's a lot of money, but it's a must buy, If you can get one!! get it!! stop waisting time looking at other frames, you will only wish you got one of these..
This frame is truly fantastic. After I had my Whyte E5 stolen I had to replace. Looked really hard at the Orange 5, Lapierre Zesty, Whyte E120, etc etc. I put the Chris King tapered Headset on with the Fox Shox 32 Talas 150RLC QR15 forks. Hope BB, Hope M4 breaks, Roval Traversee wheels, KS i900 racing remote post. Everything that's Hope on the bike is Red and the frame is the limited edition Black Chrome. Wherever possible I've done XTR to keep the weight down but added a Double and Bash at the front. All in its 29lbs which I'm really pleased with considering the brakes and fork.
It climbs so well and the descents are sublime. I don't regret a single piece. The Surrey Hills get attacked once a week as does Swinley Forest although its Afan this weekend. I can't speak highly enough about this frame. If you can afford it, just do it.
