I'm on my third BB51, I have given a crank-set that this was in a bad review before, but I think now I was too critical and the problems I had weren't really with the BB itself. I am an avid fan of this BB now - I do some hard cross country with some killer hills and occasional wet conditions - this BB takes the punishment and when the time comes to change it is so easy to remove and change - I gave it a 5 star rating because it's so cheap and easy to install/remove.
I say GOOD.. 4 stars. Yea they last about 4 to 6 months hard commuting in rain and heavy rider with cargo. For the price I got two and will swap them out every season. If you want spend 100 dollars or more on a BB do it and don't complain when your swapping bearings and seals eventually. FYI this is the direct replacement for the BB50 that came on my DEORE FC-M533 hollow crank which had no numbers on it.
You can't really fault the BB, just because of its rediculously low price. I bought one last year and its done the daily commute for a year, plus a fair amount of aggressive XC riding, a total of about 1200 - 1500 miles. The non drive side bearings have now gone, but as I said before, it's so cheap that it doesn't really matter. It's also very easy to install and remove.
how do i measure the size of a BB from the frame - if i havent got an old BB to measure????

To get the correct BB size you will need to measure the Width of the bottom bracket on the frame. It will be 68mm or 73mm on a Mountain Bike. The axle length depends on the cranks, as a guide, most modern ISIS cranks use a 113mm but there are exceptions
