i got those. And yes they are Carbon. I got diabolus bars before, same in 31.8mm..and the difference?..well the carbon is lighter..AND NOTHING ELSE..ok, you may feel uneasy about Carbon + DONWHILL but believe me if you think about that going down.. you are going down seriously!!!..same as race face, lighter..ok no flames graphics, but carbon..trick as hell..top quality
I've been using these bars for about a year now, and I can't fault them.
I originally bought these because of the price reduction alone. Having not had much experience with carbon fibre products I wasn't quite sure what to expect!
Even with the discount, they are still more expensive than nearly all "heavy duty" aluminium and cromo bars. Is it worth it?
The first thing you will notice about the bars is the weight, or lack there of! They are impressively light and will balance effortlessly on one finger.
Once fitted to the bike the difference is instantly noticable. The front end feels lighter and easier to lift, turn and just generally shift around.
I did have my doubts on the strength, and worried I might snap them on my first big drop! But after all the jumps, drops, messed up landings and crashes over the year they're still in one piece, with only a couple of scuffs to show.
I'm not implying they're indestructable, but as with most things I think you'd have to be doing something seriously wrong to break them!
It's got to the point where I just don't even think about them anymore, they have been a true fit and forget part.
I don't think I could go back to aluminium or cromo bars, they just don't feel 'right' anymore. They just don't have as much feedback or the same comfort. Everyone who has ridden my bike since I've fitted these bars has noticed the difference and liked it.
If you're having doubts, don't. They will take abuse, and they can be trimmed (just requires a little more care and ventilation, you can find guides by doing a quick search on the net).
If you're tempted by them, then go for it.
I've had these bars on my freeride bike for a while now, and they are really good, make the front end really light and feel slightly more responsive than before. They look really cool too! and if you go to the easton website you can download a pdf document telling you how to cut down carbon bars properly! They are expensive, but i wanted something light but strong and they are just that. Also they absorb some of the trail vibration so make riding a little more comfortable.
