After about 500km with these wheels I would definitely recommend them for someone looking for an aluminium clincher. They do not have have the pricey bling factor of the ksyriums and I would say they perform better than the Mavic's in term of rigidity, fluidity of the hubs and bomb proofness. I would compare those with Campagnolo Neutron, for way less money and without having to betray religious beliefs by putting Campa wheels on an otherwise all Shimano bike. A true racing wheel for the amateur who do not have a whole mechanical team to take care of his gear.
P.S: I have not tried tubeless yet. |

My new Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105 came equipped with a pair of RS10s, which run well and as an entry level wheelset are ok. I've always liked the Shimano Ultegra range though, and so I decided to buy these 6700s as an upgrade. Without any doubt, CRCs prices for these wheels is amazing, and you'll be hard pushed to find a better deal anywhere.
They arrived in a well packed box, with the wheels in bubble bags, complete with skewers within 48hrs of ordering. Great job CRC as always.
After fitting them and going out for a 30 mile spin, I noticed that they were less affected by side winds than the RS10s, which have flatter bladed spokes. The 6700s have very thin double butted spokes, and they have very smooth running bearings, which all help to overcome rolling resistance. They are also lighter than the RS10s, although I haven't really noticed any appreciable difference.
After 1000 miles the wheels are still perfectly true and smooth running. I would buy these again without hesitation. The one thing that bothers me is that Shimano spares seem to be difficult to get - spokes in particular, and although I've had no problems, I do know of others who have not been so fortunate. |

| Bought a pair of these laste year for my cyclocross bike thinking of tubeless as an alternative to tubulars. I also already had a pair of Hutchinson Piranha Cx tyres so it was a no-brainer. Welle, they are light, stiff, fast and so on. I haven't had that much different road wheels but they surely did make a nice difference. The tubeless is another advantage though I actually put it aside in order to have more tyre options and with the lower pressures for cyclocross, the tyres were burping on stronger hits (I should also be riding a little softer… ahem). I would certainly recommend them as their price tag is another plus. |
