Strength, agility and elegance: The new frame, like the AMS Series uses Size Tuned Kinematics with 100mm of fully active suspension travel. The perfect sports equipment for enthusiastic riders.

FSP 4 Link: All our suspension models are ‘true’ four pivot models. One of the four pivots is situated between the rear stays and the seat tube. The pivots are placed in such positions that the rear train will follow the irregularities of the track in a natural way. The position of the pivots prevents a hardening of the suspension during braking. The power transmission to the rear wheel is optimal and without discernible pedal back lash.

FSS Frame Save System: To protect our high-end aluminium frames these are built with the CUBE Frame Save System replaceable derailleur hanger. The tread is in the hanger itself and not in the frame, as usual. In case of a crash this hanger can be easily and quickly replaced with a new one.

Aluminium Superlite: Very high tensile strength 7005 aluminium alloy, needs a heat treatment, is developed for the highest requirements, very stiff, fatigue resistant, corrosion resistant, non-shearing, double butted and suitable for the lightest tube-sets with highest stiffness.

I own the 2009 version of this bike which is practically the same setup as this except the front forks are different (mine being rock shox recon, with remote lockout also). I must say it is a great bike if you are first starting out and is suitable for trails such as Llandegla Forest (North Wales) and alike. The standard pedals aren't great but that is something you usually change on a bike to make it your own and to make it suit you. It is a fairly light bike, and I bought the 20" frame which I found a mistake and think the 18" frame would've suited me better (I'm 6ft). The schwalbe tyres are really grippy especially the front (nobby nic) but you will find the rear will wear out quickly on the roads, but it is only as expected from an MTB tyre with soft compound. Brakes: I usually run the black runs (experienced/advanced riders) in Llandegla and these brakes are enough to stop you when needed, they have worked fine for me apart from the occasional rubbing but a quick readjustment sorted this out. I'm used to hope twin piston brakes, which obviously the Hayes don't match up to, but they are still pretty strong for my weight (80kg). The remote lockout on the front suspension is fine and works fine, but like stated, the front sus on my bike is slightly different to the 2010 so I cannot really comment. The rear lockout I don't tend to use as much but it certainly does it's job. Of course you will have to buy a shock pump to pump up the front and rear shocks on this bike. Drivetrain and gears: Can't fault these.. Quick, smooth gear changes providing you are using the correct lube and keep them clean. Last but not least, Great quick delivery from CRC and bike was easy to install with all instructions needed. Overall a very good bike, but personally I will be buying a hardtail next time for the same sort of a price range which will obviously give me a higher specification. As an add on from the last review, i'd like to mention that the rear shock is not entirely great and doesn't take a whole lot of shock from rocky downhills, but it's possibly the only thing that mainly lets the bike down.
