excellent pedals, easy top use, they go really nicely with the new shimano DX shoes, spot on for dh and 4x, nice, only lil porb is that the outer casing is a lil wobbly, but that doesnt matter i think its like that anyway brilliant pedal by em now and get them form here cos the delivery time and service is really good
don't let the looks put you off, these pedals work just as well for rough/technical XC as they do for DH/BSX/BMX. No more trying to ride rock gardens with only one foot clipped in after having to dab - the cage acts as a really effective guide to getting clipped in (and saves the pedal body from all but the worst rocks)
only reason to get 540s/959s over these would be if you're a total weight weenie or never ever need to unclip riding
Had the 545(ally cage model)before this for 2yrs. This pedal is well worth the extra £10. Plastic cage is less slipery, it has a much more open construction, so fewer mud problems, seals are much better. You can easily remove the cartridge axle and apply fresh grease. Very rugged and abuse resistant. Its a 540 with a cage at around twice the weight. The large platform fills you with confidence when things get a bit pear shaped, and its still ok for nipping down the shops without changing your shoes.
For regular XC its a bit OTT, but for more agressive XC or lite-FR when you may not be fully cliped in all the time, like the bike parks in Wales and Scotland, its excellent.
3yrs and 4,500 miles and still going strong.
