i got these tyres before x-mas i have rode in ice snow and realy muddy conditions.
the tyres are small but have a lot of grip.after using tioga tyres i though i would upgrade and these were cheap. i bought them and thought they were abit thin but on the track they performed better than any tyre i have ever had.
I purchased these following lots of internet reviews and good quality for a good price. Chain reaction delivered them very quickly and my first impressions were a good quality tyre. after fitting them, i went out for a cycle and the first thing i noticed was the noise coming from them on the road. very loud rubber to tarmac noise, more than my previous Kenda's. I tend to cycle on the road a fair bit because of where i live, but once off road, they came into there own. very stable on loose mud and shingle, felt safe hammering into corners in the mud. Good tyres, but i will get some half and half for the road. Overall, great tyre and good value and make.
Ok i took a punt on this tyre just before a CRC marathon event this year (Grassington). I had an issue with the stock tyres on my Kona cinder cone hard tail. The marathon route was a mix of everything beleive me! peat mud slippy rocks wet tarmac big rock fields massive downhills big loose uphills you name it... I was worried about pinch punctures so i put 50lbs in front and back. Was very uncomfortable on the back but better than punctures. I have to say i was ammazed at the level of grip these tyres gave.. i gave it some serious hammer especially on the downhills as i was following two friends on full sus who where giving it big guns. Again i cant praise this tyre enough i still have them on now for training as well on tarmac and on the north york moors (yes noisey) but the RR is very good. These are simply the best VFM tyres around. I personally dont care if the tyre is 1" to 3" as long as i can go fast enough round the corners and have confidence in grip. If i have to upgrade then it will be because i have turned PRO!! Iff anyone can better this tyre then let me know please. simon2490 at the hottest of mail boxes...
