OK so I bought these mostly because I thought they'd match my bike...as well as having bite point adjustment for a bargain bucket price, but I genuinely am impressed with them. They could be a light weight system if you ditch the rotors that come with them (140g each) and get something pimpier and lighter - the rest of the system weights around 360g on my scales, which isn't bad at all. The finishing is a little sloppy, some parts are anodised, other bits painted so they don't really match themselves and the don't have any crisp machining or the like. But they're free from wobbles, everything fits together snugly (though not perfectly if you're running shimano shifters with the indicator window thingies - it's not the worse brake lever/shifter issue I've had though). I don't know how long it'll be before the red anodised lever blades fade to pink or wear to sliver under muddy fingers, but they look alright at the mo' and are quite a nice, comfy shape. There's no teeth loosening levels of power in them when using one finger, but there's more than enough for fast XC duties and it's very nicely modulated too - not far off shimano's XT (when they're bled properly!) in terms of feel. I've not yet felt under braked, in fact I've barely noticed them (apart from when looking down at the bars...), which can't be bad. If they were £90 each, they'd be on a par with the competition (not as well finished as some, but a better 'feel' and more adjustability), but for a whole set up - even with stupidly heavy rotors - they're brilliant. The bite point/reach adjustment really works, there's snough power and feel in them, they look kinda snazzy (until you get up close) and they come with everything you need to keep them going for quite a while - spare pads and parts to bleed them when needed. Ace! Oh, and you get some grips with them too, which are...some grips. |
