i am running one of these on my mtb which is converted for the road,gear changes to all 3 rings are quick responsive and smooth the crankset is also very smooth this coupled with the fact that it is very light makes this the ideal crankset for commuting or getting those training miles into your legs for summer hope this review helps p.s to our danish friend when changing cranksets the chain will jump around on the "cogs" because the chain and rear cassette are worn my advice would be to change the cassette and chain this should resolve the problem as there is no design fault with the crankset
i bought these cranks about a month ago, i got one of my friends who has lots of mechanics experience to fit them. Went on with no trouble at all. Performance of them is second to none. I have and XTR shifter on the front and shifting is instant no delay. The gears were also done by my friend. Took them out to cwm carn last week and they performed amazingly. if you dont get them you dont know what you are missing out on. The only difference between the higher shimano models is the difference in materials used that all.
Fitted these cranks a couple of months ago as part of a complete drivetrain overhaul (along with LX derailleiurs/shifters and the much lighter XT casette). Quick shifting and a really stiff feel lets you put the power down smoothly. Switiching to the 48 outer ring has been brilliant for fast trails and the roads (I can now maintain a good cadence over 25mph!). Make sure that you pair these with the correct conventional bottom swing deraillieur, designed for the larger ring.
