Ive used everything from Shimano unnamed mechs right the way up to their XTR ultra smooth uber cool looking mechs. This though takes the biscuit! Not smooth like the shimano stuff but super precise and secure clunk. I love it! And it needs nowhere near as much re-ajustment as a Shimano mech. Yes expensive but yes its worth it if you want the best!
For the person who said it probably isnt better than your xt mech, thats nonsense, any shimano mech (maybe excluding the saint mech)really are far inferior to most sram mechs of the same price
i really cannot rate this item enough, it rocks!!!
though if you want a really good mech and shifter set that work superbly, then you may aswell get the x - 9 as i have that aswell and they are awesome, never failed me
Some people have said that there not tough enough etc. Well I got one of the 2005 models when they first come out and it's been raced and ridden hard for the last 2+ years, it's still working like it did on day one. Coupled with x9 shifter I don't think ive every had to adjust the cable or anything. It's been crashed, bashed and abused, it's covered in battle scars where it's hit rocks etc. but it's still straight and true. Expensive but then it shifts faultless and if you get 3 years out of it, worth the price. I'll be getting a 2008 version next year and the 2005 one can be retired to my jump or xc bike.
