These panniers would be great for very light use....and that it is.
I bought these brand new from CRC and used them on a 3 month tour around S.E Asia. After 5 weeks I had these problems:
- Locking system to rack doesn't work. In theory it looks good, but doesn't work in practice. RESULT: Panniers falling off.
- The locking system is poorly designed and gets dirt and water into the metal springs, resulting in complete failure.
- The bolt and nut system that attaches the actual bag to the plastic pannel is poorly designed. After numerous bolts simply falling off during my tour I had to completely dissemble the panniers and locktight every single bolt ( I think 8 inside each pannier)
- One of the seams that is glued together on the main part of the bag came apart. Resulting in my having to try and reglue it during my trip.
My tour wasn't exactly easy or clean, but by no means some offroad adventure. I expected alot more from a company like Toppeak.
The only thing I can was good about them, is that they actually do keep the water out. (when they aren't falling apart).
If your planning on touring, as I have learnt from my travelling buddy. one word: ORTLIEB.

This bag is pretty much what you'd expect. While it's quite strong and weather proof I have to say that it really needs an extra compartment or pocket. I use it for going to university and am always having to search through the bag to find what i'm after. it really needs a compartment in the top to store keys and wallet. If you were using this bag from just point A to B and then unloading the entire bag then that would be ok but if you plan to use this as a bag at your destination i'd say opt for a more expensive bag with extra pockets. My only other criticism is that the clip stopping the bag from flapping around often falls off the rack and could have been made better. But i assume this is a problem with all pannier bags. Verdict: Good cheap simple bags that are sufficient in transport but do not make a very functional bag at the destination.
They are pretty light (just about 1400g), but they needs in a big repair with each of my trip. Very weak, not for serious use. The clamp is so bad that I had to drill the hangers and insert four bolts in them and use an additional strap. I'm looking at Agu X-Rain panniers - they should be smaller and more heavy, but they looks more better because of Klick-Fix system.
