this is a great device! Granted, its been superceded by others now but it matters not. Its got everything you need including the ANT+ tech to link to a power meter if you need it.
Best bits :-
Map - plan and download routes and run them then race against yourself with the virtual trainer. Also its gets you back home when you're lost!
HR monitor with zones - great for long distance training such as ironman and long cycle routes and generally very informative
Download to pc - great to share and analyse your data. I used this extensively whilst winter training and seeing the power go up and HR get more stable was a good incentive.
Battery life - last ages.

Bought this to replace my 305. Great to have the basic mapping and colour screen. Always accurate, use nearly every day for training - virtual partners keeps me on my toes! Also used for following recorded routes and for recording and sharing. Very durable and waterproof. Good battery life.
I have been using this for the last 18 months now. Usability, functions etc. are all superb if you're smart enough to understand them. I really like the fact that you can modify the display to the information that you need. However, what I didn't like is that after 14 months the batteries of the first unit gave up and I had to buy a replacement unit (no batterie change!) for ca. EUR 200. Afterwards I moved to Denmark and now have the problem that 1. the unit randomly switches off in the middle of rides messing up all the data, and 2. The maps purchased and saved on the Garmin website had to be reactivated by Garmin individually because they wouldn't recognize the new unit's serial no. Well...
