Description
The low-profile design of the Shimano Shadow rear derailleur tucks in to the dropout area to escape contact with rocks and branches that can ruin a ride in a matter of seconds.
Features :
• Super Wide Links - The Saint version Shadow RD boasts super wide links creating rigid structure that resists twisting and wear that leads to play in the bushings. • Integrate Skid Plate - An integrated skid plate protects the derailleur in those moments when impact is inevitable. • Increased Spring Tension - The top-normal derailleur spring has increased tension (10% stronger than the XT / XTR Shadow version) for more responsive shifts in even the worst conditions. The pulley cage spring is has also been revised to better control the movement of the cage which is available in both SS and GS lengths. • Mode Converter - A mode converter allows the derailleur to track different type of cogsets -- The DH mode is a close ratio mode to track up to a 23T-28T low gear while the AM mode is optimized for a wider ratio cogset with a 32T – 34T low gear. • Lighter Weight - 100 grams lighter using Shadow design technology!
T His mech is just pure awesome, been on my bike for over 2 weeks now after smashing up my old one, never a single problem. Simple to set up, and the shifting was great from the start. Its already done 2 races (super muddy) no problems through them both. I strongly recommend getting this mech. Its worth it
I have owned so many rear mechs in my 17 years of serious mountain biking and now I own one of these and have been using it every day on my hardtail for quite a few months. I can honestly say this is far and away the best rear mech ever designed and built to date! I currently run a Sram X9 on my DH bike and comparing the two is basically a joke. The X9 sticks out a country mile in comparison - the Saint sits really tucked away under the dropout and cassette, not out to the side waiting to be smashed off or into the wheel. The one I have is the medium GS cage and the shifting is incredible, totally p!$$!ng all over the X9 performance. No faulting it at all, even when run with a Sram attack shifter. When the super shorts are in stock I'm getting one for my DH bike straight away. With the ability to run them right up close to a road block as well is superb adding to the instant, positive shifting. Super stiff springs reduce chain flap and makes for nice quiet running. The shadow profile and cable routing keeps it super tight and flush. Super strong, light, basically perfect.
I cannot fault this mech. It has also put me off even thinking about going gearbox too! Get one, end of.
This has got to be the best by shimano. Smooth shifting, strong stiff spring. Looks amazing. The one in the picture is the SS not the GS, I would recomend it to anyone and looks lots like the SRAM X.0, but thats double the price. It does lurk into the shadows and looks well hiden from rocks and roots which really mess stuff up and generally screw you over. Best buy in my mind, get one.
