Chain Reaction Cycles sponsor Malvika Jain on Tour of the Nilgiris
Chain Reaction Cycles are proud to announce that we will be sponsoring Malvika Jain on the Tour of the Nilgiris, a 900 km cycle expedition over the lava plateau of India that will present the riders with spectacular scenery and the perfect opportunity of escaping the constraints of the office for eight days of cycling and being at one with nature.
As Malvika reports, “A ride through the Nilgirs - the Blue Mountains, named after the bell-shaped neela kurinji flowers that bloom once in 12 years. Through tea plantations, mystic (hopefully) masseurs, some breezy downhills and some lets-build-your-character elevations. I hope to see a lot of new birds and insects and maybe just hear the elephants and bears of the region from a distance.
I am talking of Tour of the Nilgiris (TFN), a lot of fun and even more serious cycling; a 900 km expedition over the lava plateau of India, in December 09; a comma in the lives of 70 chosen riders from India and abroad, when they will just abandon their work-desks and get out on their beloved Treks, Meridas, Cannondales, Biachis and Giants for 8 days in the sun and wind, for an adrenalin high.
This year, I am undertaking this cult status ride with the support of chainreactioncycles.com. I feel better than ever, geared as I will be by the world’s biggest online store for cycling components and accessories. As CRC puts it “We eat, sleep and Sh!T bikes and can help you solve any of your biking problems.” Not only do these guys keep things spiffy by dispatching orders the same day, but they also give super discounts on last year’s model or colour. And if they don’t believe in a product, they simply don’t stock it.
Having done 250 km of Ladakh, 240 km of highway pedalling and countless rides in the rocky Aravallis, I can’t wait to push my record up a notch by packing away the 900 km this event will cover. The pressure is building as the participants put in daily training rides of 100 km. By the time the event kicks off I can expect dangerously flinching calf muscles! Wish me luck.” Malvika Jain, MTB Cyclist and Copywriter, India
We will keep you posted on Malvika’s progress with regular updates. Check back soon for more information on her progress and experiences on this wonderful expedition.
