Answer:
You'd be better off with a new bike with pre-specced forks dude. You will probably struggle to find anything to fit, even if you do, you'r bike may not take the added forces.

i have a giant talon 27.5 2014. i am looking to upgrade the 100mm fork on it. Can i fit a 29er fork as there is more choice. Will it alter the geometry too much and will the disc brakes still fit?
Thanks

Answer:
Don't do it as this will mess with your geo without any benefit. It you want some more choice check if your bike can take a 120mm fork for 27.5 wheels.

Answer:
29er forks are criminalised on 650bs and as such carry a heavy penalty if you do. Discs won't fit and the geometry will be wrong

Answer:
The cup insertion depth on your frame is 11mm so you need to use something like the Hope Pick N Mix top and bottom cups. For your frame, you need:
ZS44/28.6 - Type 2 for the top
and
EC44/40 - Type H for the bottom

Answer:
If you know the I.D. of the head tube at the bottom you can get a Hope pick and mix bottom cup. Hopes website has all the info for working out which one. Top cup would be the same as original 1.

Using the Scott website for reference, this bike was built with a 1 1/8" Steerer fork which has 100mm of travel and runs the wheel on a 9mm Quick Release dropout.

There are a few options listed below.

Forks upgrade for Trek Fuel Ex5 29er

I recently purchased a trek fuel ex5 29er and need to change the forks. Im coming from a hardtail with pretty old Marzocchi bomber Z1 wedge forks with 140mm travel, which I love. I need some advice on a fork that rides similar to my Marzocchi's but is suitable for a 29er. I find the Rockshox on my Trek very unforgiving, and have tried changing the set up every which way, without finding a set up that I like.

Answer:
A few good alternatives to run on your bike are as listed below.

Note that as the Fuel EX5 was spec'd with a 15mm Thru Axle on the forks, these suggestions are also in relation to this front wheel axle standard.
