Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous Stitching gives way on pads. Poor quality.
661 name with d30 should inspire confidence in the quality of this product, which is why I bought them. Unfortunately this is not the case and the shorts do not come up to scratch. The stitching on these bad boys started to give out around the pads as soon as I put them on out of the box. I am sure riding would soon destroy them. Sending back for a refund and will be looking for another product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous poor quality seams
just arrived and fit good but the seams around the 3D0 protections broke before i try on the bike, if the material is elastic also the seams have to do this!!!! i have also a dainese short with plastic protection and after years and abuse with motorbike and snowboard are perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous Terrible quality
Worst quality item I have ever purchased from CRC. I have only worn them once on a two hour ride and three of the foam inserts are coming out because the stitching has come undone at three seperate sites.
These are not fit for purpose.

After coming off on black ice a couple of times and needing to protect my hips I brough these shorts as neatly designed and using high spec impact pads. In practise the seams around the impact pads and hems started to fall appart from the first time tried these shorts on, a couple of weeks down the line and at lease 5 of the seams are coming undone! Not able to withstand the rigours of dressing then how will they perform in an impact situation? I am very disappointed by the unacceptably poor quality of these shorts brough as safety enhancement clothing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous D30 pads strategically positioned, but still too expensive
I bought these shorts because they seemed to be (one year ago) the only option to have some upper leg and waist protection when pedalling. My riding styhle is very aggressive AM and I frequently fall, and I am almost always get beaten very hard on my thigh.
The D30 pads are only the high ones: 2 on the high thigh and 3 on the bottom. They are well positioned but it's disappointing to find that the biggest pad on the lower thigh is actually simple foam and not D30. However, the shorts do the job well and provide a good protection over impacts.
I don't use them over the normal shorts because I think that the fabric and the stitches would tear out very rapidly. Personally I use them under lycra tights and I find that these solution compress the D30 shorts and keep them better in place while protecting fabric and stitches.
- provide effective protection over impacts
- when used under lycra tights/shorts, they don't slip and are comfortable enough for pedalling
- too much expensive
- fabric and stichtes won't last long if the shorts are exposed directly to the terrain
- they don't have the inner pad and tend to slip if weared alone
