661 Rage Knee-Shin Guards

The 661 Rage Knee Shin Guard is a direct descendant of the original 661 Kyle Strait Knee pad, which should be considered the common ancestor of all current knee guard designs. It was the first lightweight, flexible, optimized-coverage knee protection available to the masses, and the masses loved it! So many Kyle Strait Knee Guards went out of here that we figured 661 would make them forever.

The Rage has a hard shield that covers the knee cap with articulated impact foam inserts on the side of the knee and front of the shin.

The lightweight design creates less bulk for hauling them to the top of the hill. Perfect strap placement keeps the Rage Knee Shin in place wether you are pedaling or crashing. And, it's pedal-friendly thanks to an updated ergonomic shape and two mesh panels on the back of the leg.

661 Rage Knee-Shin Guards Features:

  • Perforated neoprene construction with stretch mesh back.
  • Stretch Kevlar knee cover with abrasion-resistant graphics.
  • Pre-curved ergonomic fit.
  • Internal hard cap protector.
  • Upper adjustment closure.
  • Meets CE EN 1621-1 standards.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very nice fit, functional I am using these knee-sin pads for my typical trails rides. Since I come from a knee injury I wanted something to also protect the side not just the knee cap and these have some cushioning both left and right side around the knee. The shin is soft as I wanted and the knee part is hard so it is a combination I was looking for. They are not very bulky on the shin but only slightly on the knee but still if you want hard material for the knee part there aren't many ways to go around it.(they look thinner in the image than they actually are) Material is still holding up just the occasional small threads popping here and there due to bushes in the trails...It is normal I guess. Could get hot in summer days (although there are small vent holes) but I enjoy them for autumn now combined with shorts. The only downside is you need to wear them by taking your shoes off so either do it from home before you start or make a stop before some downhill part and do it. As for sizing I got the medium having normal to thick calves. I used the 661 sizing guide for that using measuring tape...there are two rubber bands that stretch in some small extent so I opted for a tight fit and they don't disturb me while pedalling or drop down after a while. 07 October 2014

Internal hard cap?

On this items description on your page this item is listed as having an internal "Hard cap" over the knee, but on 661's website this item is listed as having a "Soft Cap" in the knee. I am aware that there is a hard cap option and a soft cap option as 2 different items on your website, I am interested in the soft version.

Which cap does this item actually have?
