661 Sub Gear Long Sleeve Shirt

SixSIxOne is pushing product development to the limits to build the new Sub Gear L/S Shirt Body protection that exceed the standards within the Mountain bike industries. Our designers incorporate the newest technology to provide quality products that excel in comfort and protection.

Key technologies for the 661 Sub Gear Long Sleeve Shirt:

  • Power stretch fabric: Our Power Stretch fabric is a specific polyester blend that helps wick away moisture, and cool the rider with its evaporative properties. The material performs better than traditional pressure suit materials because of its moisture management capabilities.
  • High Impact Memory Foam: A special impact material that has a stiff initial impact that slowly conforms to the shape of the body, which gives the protective piece a way to eliminate the heavier, air restricting hard caps that have traditionally been used in pressure suits.

Body armour specifications:

  • Compression fit, breathable fabric construction improves blood flow and boosts muscle recovery
  • Flat locked seams reduce chafing
  • EVA chestpanel.
  • Plastic shoulder and elbow pads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 43 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value but with limited features. Have used this product a number of times now and it fits well. It absorbs initial impacts well but the elbow guards slip round if you slide! It is really comfy and not as sweaty as I expected. For the price it does an excellent job. It is a pity that you can't remove the pads to wash the shirt and the instructions recommend that you don't immerse it in water. I have washed the shirt and pads in a cool wool wash cycle and it doesn't seem to have had an adverse effect on the shirt. I would recommend the shirt for trail use but for proper downhill choose something more specialised and specific. 25 August 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by A good idea, poorly executed I really liked the idea of having some shoulder/forearm protection, but wanted to avoid having to wear full body armour. This top seemed ideal., especially as it was half price. The top was pretty tight to get on, especially around the waist, but after 3 or 4 wears it stretched out, whilst still remaining snug. The shoulders were a little bit loose on me, but I'm of slight build. Where the top is tight fitting, when covered in sweat after a ride it can be a little tricky to remove. Sadly, after just a couple of outings, the stitching started to come apart around the neck. In the few weeks I've owned it, the stitching has also come apart on the arm, and has nearly all come out around the waist. If I had paid full price for it I would of definitely returned for a refund. I'd also now think twice about purchasing more 661 products if the quality of this one is anything to go by. 20 July 2014
13 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very small fit Struggled to get it on , had to tear the bottom to get in it, once on felt great but it fell apart after a couple of rides the stitching came away around the padding, shame if it were better quality it would be good as the pads are hard not soft 01 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good top for extra protection I've used this in both Summer and Winter and it's been very good, It is a real challenge getting out of it though after a ride. it also has a tendancy to start creeping up your bike and then needs pulling down from time to time. However for the little extra protection it's very good, i got this on offer for about £30 and for that rice you cant go wrong. It's pretty breathable under any biking top and you soon get used to it and forget your wearing it. No matter how old you are you will feel like batman when you first put it on. 25 April 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by bonne protection très difficile à mettre et à enlever pas très pratique 24 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by not too bad It's cheap and cheerful (bought during a sale) the chest padding made me sweat allot but only when getting a move on uphill. It fits well and doesn't move around much under your jersey but it can be difficult to remove, especially one it's a bit sweaty. 07 April 2014

Answer:
Just shove it in the washing machine, when forced to by the wife. If single, then only wash when no one else will ride with you. If racing you could use the smell to your advantage!

Answer:
As the padding is sewn into the jersey you are best to hand wash the jersey with cold or luke warm water and soap but i would advise not to put in the washing machine.

The tags say to wash at 20 degrees Celsius and to drip dry and not to spin. The foam and pads aren't removable.

Answer:
I'm not sure, but the chest sizes are quite accurate. The arm lengths are very long, you may end up rolling up the arms. The armour needs to be a very snug fit or it won't work. Also just to warn you this armour only provides minimal protection to the chest and shoulders, (and the full arm version has elbow pads) there is no cover to the collar bones, back or ribs. I use mine in connection under the 661 core saver, which has these features.

Have you looked at the X-brand hard body armour which they do in junior sizes?

Answer:
It's not sure if there are no measurements in the size chart, but I'm afraid that it might be a little larger. If it is larger than it should, the protection pads won't stay in the right position and the protection won't be enough.
