661 Sub Gear Short Sleeve Shirt

SixSIxOne is pushing product development to the limits to build the new Sub Gear S/S Shirt Body protection that exceed the standards within the Mountain bike industries. Our designers incorporate the newest technology to provide quality products that excel in comfort and protection.

Key technologies for the 661 Sub Gear Short Sleeve Shirt:

  • Power stretch fabric: Our Power Stretch fabric is a specific polyester blend that helps wick away moisture, and cool the rider with its evaporative properties. The material performs better than traditional pressure suit materials because of its moisture management capabilities.
  • High Impact Memory Foam: A special impact material that has a stiff initial impact that slowly conforms to the shape of the body, which gives the protective piece a way to eliminate the heavier, air restricting hard caps that have traditionally been used in pressure suits.

Body armour specifications:

  • Compression fit, breathable fabric construction improves blood flow and boosts muscle recovery
  • Flat locked seams reduce chafing
  • EVA chest and “Intella-Foam” shoulder panels

The 661 range of body armour protection is available from Chain Reaction Cycles, the online bicycle store for the amateur to the professional cyclists.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 28 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by comfortable and light I bought the XS, as I'm a 32-33" chest size. Hoped this would fit true to size and thankfully it does! It was even a little bit snug getting it on but I definitely forget about it when it's on. Very light weight, smells a bit weird when you first get it but some washes it should be fine. 06 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for the price Clearly not aimed at the hardcore downhiller..but for enduro and those getting adventurous at bike parks/trail centres it is OK. It's effectively a base layer with foam protection for the chest centre and shoulder pads (my most common landing area when I get it wrong or what I hit trees with) summer it can get a tad warm, but what's the alternative?? Rest of year fine. Noticed a few comments re washing...I wash mine after every ride, 30 degrees though as the 40 degree wash will pull of the Spider-Man effect on the front...then dry on back of chair or radiator...no probs apart from a bit of material bobbles, but nothing detrimental....and at these prices....great. I use the long sleeved version in winter.. 25 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Plenty of protection and still comfortable All you need to know is that the shoulder pads are made of firm yet flexible plastic - so it'll protect you in a crash but you forget you're wearing it. The chest plate is also fairly robust plastic surrounded by smaller foam pads around the periphery. Make sure to order on the smaller/tighter side for a good fit. 17 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it Got for enduro riding. Low protection but light weight and perfect for enduro. Too light weight for DH. I love it 30 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Subtle extra protection for those days you don't want to wear the full Dainese gimp suit... Bought one of these for a very good price from CRC. Wore it at BPW during a sleety wintry day. Kept me nice and warm and warded off clipping a tree with a shoulder. Well fitted, comfy to wear and you wouldn't know you had it on after about 5 minutes. Quality wise though some of the stitching does look a little flimsy, time will tell how long it does last... However the washing instructions are a bit bizzare, it says you can't even use and detergent on it let alone put it anywhere near a washing machine. After a few summer rides this thing is going to hum if you can't wash it. I suspect using a delicate detergent with a hand wash will probably be ok though. 08 July 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Protezione base, discreta qualità.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gives you more confidence I wear this every time I ride, it gives me more confidence and I commit more improving my riding. There's a nice amount of padding in the shoulders and the chest. It does get a bit warm on hot summer days. 20 June 2014

Answer:
I'm not sure to be really honest, but the protection that might is located over the point of the shoulder - if you put your hand on the point of your shoulder, fingers facing your head and with the palm on the point of the shoulder, your hand is the space that will be covered by the pad. Hope that helps!
