Steel-O-Flex - At ABUS, the name Steel-O-Flex stands for cable locks with high flexibility and double security. The steel cable is covered in overlapping shells made from toughened steel, like scale armour. As a result, its resistance to attempts to break it open is increased significantly, while its weight only increases slightly and its flexibility remains largely intact.
Abus Granit 1000 Steel O Flex Cable Lock Technology:
25 mm overlapping steel shells protect the inner steel cable.
PVC-coating to prevent damage of the bicycle's paintwork.
The steel shells, the lock body as well as supporting elements of the locking mechanism are made of special hardened steel.
ABUS Plus cylinder for high protection against manipulations, e.g. picking.
Two keys are supplied with the lock, one LED torch key.
Automatic keyhole cover against dirt and corrosion.
ABUS Code Card for additional and replacement key.
Due to the steel shells, the Steel-O-Flex locks reach a significantly higher security than common cable locks, yet maintaining high flexibility.
Operation and use:
Good protection at low theft risk.
Recommended for securing light motorbikes and scooters.
The longer the armored cable, the easier the motorbike can be locked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Had one about ten years and no thefts
Been locking up desirable bikes at a London bike theft hotspot, frequently at night, and it's resisted a fair few attacks. After ten years it's got cuts on the exterior covering, and one of the plastic end bits is cosmetically mangled, but nobody's actually managed to nick my bike, even by trying to drill the cylinder (it's wonky now, but it works fine). In ten years, all it's needed to keep it working is the occasional squirt of WD40 into the lock mechanism, and a whole load of replacement keys for when I've lost them.
No lock is completely indestructible, but this one seems to test the patience of thieves and win. Just don't lock it round yourself when you ride because emergency services would have a hell of a job if you were involved in an accident. This lock might well outlast your bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Serious lock.
This is a serious lock for securing your pride and joy. A bit heavy and stiff for taking with you on the bike, but that isn't what it's designed for. Handy light on the main key and a reassuringly tough casing. Massively secure for keeping thieving hands off your bike whilst your tucked up in bed. Just don't forget to chain it to something equally tough!
