Avid Code R Disc Brake 2013

The Avid Code R disc brake remains at the top of the tree when it comes to downhill braking options. While the original Code brakes burst onto the market back in 2007 with their oversized callipers and freight-train stopping power, the latest incarnation sees a tweak to the piston design as well as a whole new Master Cylinder that draws on the Elixir range with its TaperBore technology. As a premium DH brake, the Code also makes an excellent option for aggressive trail riders and heavier folks that find they're just not getting enough force out of the wimpy XC brakes. Now with the brand new HS1 Rotor that improves heat dissipation while also being less prone to warping, the newly refined Code R disc brake is kicking serious goals in the performance and value stakes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by
Rated 5 out of 5 by !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Отличные тормоза, работающие как хотите ВЫ, а не как они могут. Отличная модуляция и усилие торможения на любой скорости и уклоне. То, что надо)))! 03 August 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by powerful value stopping just got these on to replace the elixir 5's that were stock on my Alpine. what an improvement! The old brakes suffered overheating on long descents, lacked any really aggressive bite (tried lots of different pad types/brands), suffered from slight air ingress at the lever and occasionally needed two-finger power to make critical stops. The Code R's have non of these problems. At £200 for a full set it's a really competitive price. I wasn't bothered about the extra doodads you'd get on the full version Code. The lever feel is familiar, bite point easily adjusted. Fitted and trued up quickly. Bedded in after a couple of rides and I now feel so much extra confidence in all circumstances. Only downside is that the rear brake comes with a LOT of hose. My Alipne is a large, and I could still cut off about 20cm+ of hose. 01 July 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Crazy. Crazy. I don't know why anyone would realistically need this much braking power, but damn does it feel good!! I have these front and rear with the 200 mm rotors on my 29er, and braking is an effortless one-finger affair now. I often stop so abruptly at lights that it terrifies pedestrians and motorists alike. The only caution I can offer relates not to these brakes but rather the rest of your bike — you'll need strong forks and wheels or else these will flex horribly under heavy braking. 06 June 2013
