"Two versions available: one includes 4oz of DOT 5.1 brake fluid and one does not. Two syringes, torx wrench and required fittings as pictured are included with both versions."

Rated 1 out of 5 So far, pretty useless.
Bought this kit with an Avid Elixir 3 front brake as I knew I'd have to shorten the hose and then bleed the brake. Shortening the hose wasn't a problem, but I've bled the brake twice now and it's no different, the lever almost touches the bar before the brake pads bite. Assuming that the brake is not faulty, the problem lies with the syringes included in this kit. The small sections of hose with the plastic clamps on are too short, and if you bend them in any way ( which you have to when you need to position the syringes upright ) they leak brake fluid out and let air into the syringes, thus making bleeding process next to impossible. I wish I had bought the professional kit as the syringes look to be of better quality than the ones included in this kit. Don't waste your money on this kit.

Watched all the guides and read the supplied instructions. Would have been easy if the syringes and adapters didn't leak. Only gave a fair rating on value because I got dot fluid and bleed blocks in the kit. Look for an alternative is my advise.

This is a good kit if used correctly, you need to degas the DOT fluid a number of times, same with the caliper and the lever. The more time you spend on it the better the result.Good kit all the same, easy to do once you get the hang of it. Be aware though,it is also easy to get a bad bleed if you don't take time over it or use old dot fluid, for a fiver get a fresh bottle. You also get the relevant bleed blocks to your brake which is a bonus as they are 3-5 quid a pop if bought separate. Only drawback is the plastic syringe which after a few uses becomes difficult to withdraw easily, even with rinsing out after use. Then again, these can be replaced for a couple of quid on the web. Not to bad, good bleed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dimpi4 Gets the job done
It was my first kit/experience to bleed the AVID Elixir-1. It was easy and quick. And not even that dirty. Kit has everything you need to get you started, and enough DOT fluid for few times.
Only thing is that the instructions that come from avid are not as complete (or informative) as i have hoped for. So i have had done some on-line search to know exactly what is going on.

It will do the job (just), but its clear that not much thought or testing went into making this product, it could easily be made to work better. Its impossible to pressurise the system because the even the slightest amount of pressure on the plunger, leads to oil gushing out from where the red twist fit screws on to the syringe (i had to add a fair amount of PTFE tape). Also, how much would it have hurt to make the hoses about 20mm longer? they're stupidly short, specially when it comes to connecting to the lever. I'll fit a longer hose before i use it next.
