Avid Elixir X0 Disc Brake Technologies:

Tri-Align™ Caliper Positioning System™: Another original Avid technology making your life better—there’s never been an easier brake to install and adjust. With Avid’s Tri-Align™Caliper Positioning System™, aligning the caliper to the rotor literally takes seconds. Just loosen the CPS™ bolts a little, and then squeeze the brake lever while re-tightening the bolts. Perfect caliper alignment—just like that.

Top-loading Pads: When the only thing between you and the trail is bike maintenance, every second matters. With our top-loading pads, new disc-brake pads can be installed without taking off the wheel, working under the caliper or doing any upside-down pad juggling, so you’ll be ready to ride much quicker.

Reach Adjust: When one finger has the power to control your ride, adjusting the levers to perfectly match your unique hands is seriously important—that’s why we put Reach Adjust on all of our levers.

Power Reserve Geometry: At the end of the day, a brake lever simply multiples the force your hand generates (just like the nut cracker). Avid’s Power Reserve Geometry™represents a way of thinking about the physics of leverage and your hand’s comfort. This philosophy is fundamentally different than others in the business of brakes. Due to pivot placement, physics dictates that with other brake levers your fingers tend to slip off the ends as you pull. Avid is different. We designed our levers with the pivot closer to the handlebar, in fact, closer than anyone else in the industry. The resulting lever movement has less inward travel, an arc that’s closer to your fingers’ natural motion and delivers more force to the brake. The cool part is, every Avid lever has it.

Intergrated Reservoir: With TaperBore Technology™ we’ve integrated the reservoir and master cylinder on our hydraulic disc-brake levers to create a super-sleek (and even lighter) lever design.

DOT 5.1: Heat is an enemy of any brake system, so advancements in heat management, mean advancements in your ride. You see, we found that in our systems DOT 5.1 takes almost 3 times longer to boil than DOT 4, thus allowing flawless fade-free performance in even more extreme conditions.

Deep Stroke Modulation™: There’s a fine line between braking hard and braking so hard that you lose traction. Deep Stroke Modulation allows riders to perfectly navigate that line and control even the most powerful brakes with finesse.

TaperBore Technology™: The term “TaperBore” refers to a unique patent-pending closure system in our Elixir and Code levers. It saves weight, looks super-sleek, improves lever feedback and most importantly–gives you more power and control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by pretty good but have gone XTR on my wife's bike Ive always been an Avid fan (no pun intended) since the days of their v-brakes. Ive had the juicy 7s on a few bikes and they are nice and powerful if a bit heavy. These brakes are OK, seem to need bleeding a fair bit and not have the pad contact adjustment. Will be trying the M987s on my wife's bike though 29 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by super produit Super produit rien à dire montage facile près à l'emploi. 21 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good I bought this brake for my dj bike, so i can't tell a lot about it's performance, but of course it has enough power for me, even with a 140 mm rotor, the lever feels solid and consistent out of the box. I've been using it for about 3 months, no problems so far. So if you want to run a rear brake on your dj/street bike without much of weight penalty, go for X0, recomended. 03 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good XC/Agressive trail brake Lightweight brake suitable for XC or aggressive trail riding. Doesn't quite have the bite and consistency as the X0 trails so wouldn't recommend them for all mountain or DH style riding. New air bleed system make a big difference over the last model. 31 December 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good brake! These brakes came with my Nukeproof Snap (Amazing bike). The brakes themselves are very good, much better than I have had on my previous bikes (Mechanical brakes). The only problem I have is a noise they make when under braking. Hopefully this will go away over time, If not I may change the pads and rotors. Still I would recommend these brakes they really do perform well. But they aren't anything special not very adjustable, your best bet is to go for Hope brakes which are cheaper and have just as good performance wise ! 15 June 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by what can I say , I think avid breaks are great ,I have had these breaks for months and I think there flawless ....10 out of 10 10 May 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hi. This is Frank from New York City. Sorry but my opinion deffers, I do not think it's a good investment, are not suitable, the brake makes enough noise and do not recommend it I prefer anothers, Magura, Hope even Shimano as well. . In short .. I am not satisfied with the brake. I hope this information will help you think of another possibility. kind regards 20 March 2013
26 February 2013
