Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous now SAFELY commuting
Have just started commuting on my bike to work and a after a week have realised just how dreadful the original brakes are. In the dry they are just about good enough , but any rain and the stopping distance is ridiculous/dangerous.
Saw the reviews for this on chain reaction so ordered on Friday at work and delivered was this morning! (Saturday). Brakes were easy to fit ,instructions did help though. the original cantilevers cleared my mudguard but the new brakes cable caught on the mudguard, not a problem as I used a piece of aluminium to lower it. With my original admittedly sloppy brake lever there is some play before the brakes bite but when they do they are absolutely amazing ,very controllable but when you need to stop and grab a handful you have to brace on the handlebars as the stopping force is now phenomenal. Well worth the cost and inspires confidence in the safety of my bike now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous braking made easy
Along with the clarks cable kit these have now been added to my Felt Hybrid.
Very good precise braking. How much more do you need?
Brake block spacers supplied gave ability to set levers perpendicular and of course parallel. Good directions in pack for this.
Now, I set the brakes by adjusting the brakes out at the levers and holding them against rim and then tighten clamp -then loosen off at brake leaver.
Then a case of setting tension so both leavers move at same time.
The clarks kit has more than you need to do a very descent job.
Do use good cutters.

Recently fitted these on a Haro frame that had been running cantilevers, Combined with Kool Stop break pads these work a treat. Very easy to set up, along with the SD5 levers (a step up from the SD X I had before), braking is now pretty much optimal. Would advise anyone installing these with new cabling to grind down the facing edge of the cable housing where you've cut it to ensure a flat surface. Combination of brakes and levers now means I'm stopping in the wet which is why I've given them five stars. No squealing or vibrations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous These V Brakes are absolutely incredible
I bought these to replace my stock front Tektros on my hybrid. As usual CRC was considerably the cheapest on the internet - £13.99 and delivered quickly.
I decided to have a go at fitting them myself and after spending around £21 on a pair of cable cutters and a 3rd/4th hand tool and looking at various vids on the net I attempted it.
I am pretty useless and the extent of my bike maintenence is limited to fitting pedals, tubes and tyres and replacing brake pads.
I replaced the cables and had everything in place but the brake was just rubbing the wheel and I was about to give up but after a bit more tinkering and adjusting the cable and spring tension everything just fell into place and if I do say so myself I have, somehow done a better job than whoever put my bike together originally!
The brakes are simply awesome and can stop me - a 90KG rider going downhill at 20mph with the front brake alone. These are a real bargain IMO and a relatively simple upgrade.
Just buy em!

Хорошие тормоза, дешёвые, надежные, просты в настройке и обслуживании. Меняю только в связи с переходом на гидру Шимано (вилка только под диски). Откатал кучу гонок, занимал призовые места рядом с карбоновыми эликсирами))
Good brakes, cheap, reliable, easy to configure and maintain. Changed only in connection with the transition to the hydra Shimano (fork only for discs).
Ran a lof of races, won prizes nereby with carbon Elixir))

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Dead good really.
Fine for anything most XC riders will do. With good levers, cables, and pads I certainly don't need a stronger brake, very easy to lock the rear at any speed, and I'm sure I'd manage just as well with the front wheel if I fancied it...
And they're damn cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Brilliant!!!
Easy to get on to the bike. Not hard to set them up (if you know what you are doing). And very powerful. I did have a set of tektro v's on my trek but i wanted something better and this is what they are!!
