Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous A bit too weak for mtbing
Hmmm, wanted to write a review for the light itself, but it seems CRC don't hold it anymore... If you're reading this, you're probably in the same predicament I was:
Had this light for a couple of years now, very happy with it. Vey bright, ‘larger’ sized light. Great to put on your commuter, for even the muckiest weather. 360deg visible, thanks to the amber lights on the front side of the light. Seems to have been entirely waterproof. Would highly recommend this light as a decently priced, well made unit.
But… the reason I can only give it three stars is that it doesn’t seem real suitable for off road commuting/mtbing. While the light itself is perfectly capable, the mounting bracket is a bit weak when the going gets rough. I’ve snapped three in the two years I’ve had the light. I guess it’s because the light is a little on the larger side, and they haven’t engineered the bracket to support the weight well enough. The first two times the bracket snapped I heard it go and was able to go back and pick up the light unit (undamaged, might I add!). Purchased a replacement bracket, and all was well. But this morning when I got to work, the light was gone...
Maybe now I’ll get one of the other, slightly smaller blackburns.
Would suggest rather than buy this bracket and risk losing the light altogether, just use the clip on the back of the light.
