These were good while they lasted but unfortuneately that was less than 5 months of light use. The bushing is badly sealed and grit quickly strips the plating off the axle. Junk IMO.

I bought these pedals if I'm honest, simply because they look cool. Using them they were great, nice and grippy. I wear XC Shoes with my bike, with a good grooved sole for running up muddy hills. The pedals worked fine... until a got them wet. Then my feet were suddenly all over the place, no grip at all. Even wearing shoes with a flat rubber sole, they are not great in the wet. Maybe the pins could be changed for longer ones and this might help? I just decided to buy new pedals to replace these, so £55 down the pan really.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous light, grippy pedal
I purchased these pedal for mtb in extreme trail conditions such as mud, snow and ice or very rocky, technical terrain. I run Crank Bros eggbeaters for all other trail conditions. I find these pedals are just as light as my Eggbeaters. I purposely purchased the El Gordo for their narrow profile. Less likely to have "rock strikes" with a narrow pedal. The 8 pins are more than sufficient for excellent grip. I feel just as attached as if riding clip less. (Five-ten shoes also help) Good quality bearings are noticeable by the smooth pedal action + the pedals are easy to maintain and/or rebuild. Made in Canada - bonus!
