Answer:
The Thomson stems are not supplied with a matching top cap (as a general rule, stems do not include top caps; these are supplied as part of the headset in most instances), so you would need to buy the Cap separately (either on its own or as part of the upgrade kit, both linked below).

Headset for Giant XTC Composite 2013

I'm looking for a headset to use in my 2013 XTC 29er Composite frame - normally comes fitted with the OverDrive 2 steerer.

I want to put in a standard 1 1/5" to 1 1/8" steerer.

Any recommendations?

Answer:
As you have Overdrive 2 you must source the headset you require from a Giant dealer. Overdrive 2 is a Giant specific product. It is not possible to fit a standard headset into Overdrive 2.

Answer:
Not being a Whyte dealer I can't be certain, but going by the spec listed on their website, the '11 805 runs a semi-integrated headset (44mm diameter) so any of the sets linked below should be fine for a 1.1/8" steerer

Answer:
The lowest stack height headsets are the Integrated Standard; but not every frame is Integrated Headset compatible.

The best advice is to measure the internal diameter of the frames head tube (top and bottom) and contact our Technical Department with this information -

manufacturer spec differ some say inch and 8 and inch and quarter.. others .. inch and eight and inch and a half.. seems to be semi integrated as their is a steel lip on top and bottom of carbon headstock. on dismantling it is definitely inch and half bottom..lower brg is kaput.. and was easily removed from head.leaving the thin metal cap behind.. ime doesn't seem to be fully integrated but a new bearing would suffice..will

Answer:
This frame requires a 1 1/4" to 1 1/8" headset due to the fork steerer diameter.

At present we do not have a headset which can fit this standard.

For a 44mm upper and 52mm lower you can use the Cane Creek 10 and 40 series parts as linked below (IS52-30 for a straight 1.1/8" steerer; IS52-40 for a 1.5" tapered steerer fork).

Answer:
The best way to identify your headset requirement is to measure the internal diameter of your headtube. 34mm is conventional style, 41mm is Cane Creek Integrated, 41.8mm is Campagnolo Integrated, and 44mm is Semi-Integrated (also known as Zero-Stack).
