Answer:
I used the bb51 and it failed after a few hundred miles.

Very poor.

I would avoid any of this style BB, even the expensive ones seem to have poor reviews (once people have used them for a bit).

I would stick with one of the other BB designs. I had an octalink (i think) that lasted 6k+ miles, that i replaced as i could not get a new crank set i that would fit it any more…

Answer:
The 2012 Trek came origionally specified with a Shimano M552 chainset. These use the Hollowtech external bottom brackets, two options are soon below.

The bottom bracket is very easy to change and can be done with the below tool. You simply loosen the two pinch bolts and remove the pre-load bolt from the left hand crankarm. The chainset will slide off allowing you to change the bottom bracket.

Answer:
The 68mm and 70mm are two different standards in bottom bracket shell. The 68mm size is a British/English (BSA) threaded standard. The 70mm is better known as the threaded Italian standard.

The type a frame needs is determined by measuring the width of the bike frames bottom bracket shell.

Answer:
The BB90 is intended for use with a Shimano XTR Mountain Bike Crankset; it is cross-compatible but not necessarily optimal.

Using a Road specific bottom bracket could be the upgrade required for better performance on your bike.

What bottom bracket/crank can I use

Hi I am looking to build up a bike, I have a Titus fireline ti frame which has a 73mm width for the bottom bracket and I was looking to get the Hope bottom bracket and run it on a 10 speed double crank (probably looking at the shimano XT). What would I need to make this all work as they don't look like they have the spindles included? Previously I have used the octalink bottom brackets and corresponding crank on my other bike but I get through these in no time.
Many thanks in advance

Answer:
This bottom bracket is compatible with the Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets (see suggestion below) for which the new Shimano 10-speed cranks all have.

The spindle is integrated into the crankset and the bottom bracket acts as a bearing housing for the crankset to mount through.

Answer:
Due to the tapered spindle design in SRAM cranks; it is best to stick with the manufacturers bottom bracket for the best performance (and warranty).

Threadless suqare taper bottom bracket.

Dear Sirs,
Any advice for threadless bottom bracket 68mm (square taper) for an old batavus bycicle?
e.g. the old one has an axle with 2 seals pressed into the frame, close with mud guards, no threads at all, even no cups for seals.

Scelta movimento centrale

Buongiorno,

Grazie

Enrico
