Brooks has reintroduced a classic product that may force many cyclists, more familiar with modern alternatives, to reassess the material they rely on for grip and comfort. Leather, a naturally durable and breathable material, has been overtaken by a plethora of man-made fibers and materials in recent years but could be on the verge of a comeback among cycling aficionados.
Andrea Meneghelli explains: "Some good things just never change. One of these is certainly leather, a material used since thousands of years for clothing, shoes, etc because of its unique properties. Sometimes innovation for innovation’s sake sees traditional materials - which are still capable of outperforming newer ones - left behind as fashions change. Today most handlebar tapes are made of plastic, synthetic cork or micro-fibres but Brooks believes that by reintroducing leather it could become the next big thing among discerning cyclists."
Brooks England Leather Handlebar Tape Features:
2 strips of adhesive perforated leather bar tape.
2 adhesive cloth strips.
2 bar end plugs made of cork and wood, featuring the Brooks logo.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous Fades, scruffy & overpriced
Not happy with this bar tape. Having owned 3 Brooks saddles, I thought I'd get the same quality with the bar tape. Not so. After less than 12 months, it has faded terribly and looks scruffy. Have it on a solo & tandem; only 1 piece looks as I expected. The rest is of a very poor quality. The bar end stoppers fall to pieces easily as well. Contacted Brooks direct but their after-sales service dept is ignoring my requests.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Great bar tape!
I've put on thousands of kilometres with this tape on my drop bars and they've held up great. There's nothing that compares to the feeling of it when its been worn in just to your specifications. Just be sure to use some sort of coating on it (such as proofide) to ensure longevity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Fantastic bar tape!
I've past the 70 year marker and I've cycled since my teens. This is far and away the best handlebar tape I've ever used. Yes, it's a tad pricey, but you soon forget what you payed when you discover how great this bar tape is. I've got it on four of my seven road bikes now - will probably have it on all of them before long. And it lasts forever! The lighter colors take on a lovely patina and look and feel even better as they age. Kinda like me. (chuckle)

Great product as noted by other reviewers. However I found it slightly short making for slightly less overlap than I would have liked when installing. Brooks England, but is made in China.

This bar tape is one of the best looking saddle ever. Bought it for my fixie-project with matching brooks swift saddel. My bike could'nt be better looking right now. I also got two extra little pieces of leather just like the bar tape, but never found out what it was meant for.

Bought the honey colour to complement my honey B17. The colour is not even close, nothing like that pictured. Its far lighter, similar to the B17 Select. It also seems significantly shorter than other tapes. Dissapointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Just divine, well worth the money
The perfect touch. I used bike ribbon gel pads underneath these pads and it worked really well, with more than enough to spare. A little bit of double sided tape when you start will really help and a touch of super glue has helped the cloth finishing tape stay well put. The honey colour was a perfect match for my select b17. This tape is lighter in colour than the honey coloured saddles.
