Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by 18 months, 8000km, 2 winters, 2 Falls, 1 fall. See what I did there with the ambiguous term for the third season of the year? ...Right, time for a review after spending some considerable time with these fellas. To begin with, they're nice. I've got the Celeste hoods to match my bike and they do look the part. They also feel good. Having tried a few base and mid range levers from Shimano I prefer these by a country mile. They feel much better and by that I mean the ergonomic shape is better and the feel (touch) is more compliant and comfortable and sure footed. They are also more tidy and elegant than either the equivalent Shimano or SRAM offerings, to my eye at least. Having said all that I have never been totally satisfied 'on the hoods' of any levers I've ever had (save the Cane Creek 5C, brake-only units on my workhorse bike). Campagnolo for me conjures images of the slightly exotic and for this my first Campy groupset I do feel a bit special amongst all the other bikes wearing the other two S's. They work well out of the box too. They shift very very well, sweet, crisp and definite. In this aspect they punch above their weight in my opinion. (I have the matching derailleur and have had both an 11-25 and a 12-25 Campy cassette). I have to hand it to Campagnolo also for their online documentation and what appear to be official maintenance videos on YOUknowwhere. Perhaps relevant if you read on ;) A paragraph of unhappiness. My right-hand (RH) 10 speed Powershift lever began to give shifting trouble after about 500km. Specifically shifting from larger to smaller cogs, that's upshifting, right? It was December when the thumb lever became difficult to depress and I thought this issue was due to colder temperatures though I can't be sure this was the kernel of the problem. This progressed to where the lever would let go of 3+ cogs at a time (the Powershift is designed to release 1) and to very recently where it just let them all go! Not tolerable! I chased this as an issue under warranty but I was less than satisfied by the communication with the UK based Velotech which Campagnolo passed me to after initial contact. A 3 year warranty is great theoretically, however, I live in Dublin, Ireland and would have had to pay carriage each way with a potential finding of not-under-warranty. To boot it is very hard to source a single Veloce lever, coming in pairs as they do. I did find a single one eventually (at my own expense). After I swapped out the blade and hood for cosmetic match (see pictures) The results are pretty promising. I now have a slightly different version, the ULTRAshift. This allows (by choice) the user to shift from 1 - 5 cogs at a time. I had to modify the hood from the POWERshift slightly (see pictures) to allow for the extra range in movement, I haven't perfected this yet. It feels nice though and this might be a useful feature. It sure is nice to be back to precise smooth shifting! I sure hope I don't jinx anything by uttering long-may-it-last! I know these levers very intimately by now. From my travels I understand they contain some of the same componentry as their bigger brothers. In that sense they represent value. When they're bad they're very bad but when they're good they are very, very good. Conver 18 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by As good as Centaur Work the same as Centaur, but will they last as well? The ergoshaped hoods not only has a wonderfull agressive attitude with the inward sweep at the top but also very comfortable providing numerous hand positions. The upshift button can be operated by the thumb from the drops and when resting high on the bar with the pinky. Adding to the comfort and versatility is the "large hands insert" witch also adds an extra bit of reach for the hoods. The brake release mechanism built into the STI works quite well. I very much reccomend these for road but the downshift button is however, in my oppinion, not suited for Cyclo Cross. 30 August 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by One step forward two steps backwards In the past it's been generally recognised that campagnolo improve their products constantly upgrading or at least maintaining features. Which was one of the reasons I purchased these levers to replace my 1999 9 speed shifters. To my disbelief they changed the indexing on the up shift (as in higher gear smaller cog) to single indexing, one click at a time. My much older shifters could shift several clicks in one movement. A huge disappointment, personally I don't think they look as well styled and appear quite bulky. The only positive I could find was the ergo grip does feel more comfortable when riding on the hoods. Currently looking for some more versatile shifters, at over £90 not cheap given the above limitations. 15 December 2011

Answer:
This technology means that you can move the chain simultaneously up 3 sprockets and then 5 down. These shifters have this possibility.

Answer:
Powershift is one up-shift, Ultrashift is one to five up-shifts. Both go one to three the other way. Not sure which version is here.

Shift Capabilities?

Do these shifters allow for multiple up or down shifts at once, or does the thumb tab only shift up one gear?
Thanks.

Answer:
Hi,

The Powershift version is one up-shift, the Ultrashift version is one to five up-shifts. The difference is the travel the thumb lever can rotate through. They both shift one to three in the other direction. See my review at CRC for expansion on the topic.

I am looking for an old "Ultra-shift" Veloce, but the image shows different lever graphics.
Do you tell the model number of them?
