Skinsuits are obviously fast, but they aren’t practical for road racing for two reasons: they have no pockets and, perhaps more importantly, it’s tough to take a nature break in one. So we created a new and improved aero jersey with a full zip and new fabrics and then stitched it to a Body Paint bibshort.
The jersey portion and short portion overlap on the front for full coverage, but leaving the front unstitched allows for nature breaks even from the bike. We tested that too. The 3 rear pockets are securely held in place in all conditions, including when fully loaded. The main aero benefit comes through improved airflow around the torso by keeping the sides of the jersey in tension.
We were also able to remove the bib straps, improving comfort and allowing even more cooling when fully unzipped. Congratulations to Johan Van Summeren for netting the Sanremo Speedsuit’s first victory on the roads to Roubaix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cyclinginlycra It is advertised as aero-fit - it provides the feel of an aero fit
Not on my life would I have usually bought a piece of kit like this - or so I thought. At full price, it would be better value to purchase two bibshorts and a single jersey instead. However, the reduced price was too much to resist.
So what is it like to wear?
Yes it is skintight but not grotesque. The cut is excellent. The pads are high quality as per usual for Castelli and suitable for long distance riders.
Would I wear this normally?
Skinsuit wearing cyclists not on time trials, usually look somewhat strange. This is not the case with this suit. On a club run, I received complementary comments rather than criticisms.
Aero or not?
Perhaps it was placebo, but this certainly feels more aerodynamic when compared with the best of normal jerseys/shorts.
The pockets are slightly less spacious than those incorporate into a normal jersey. You can carry a phone, gels and other bits of equivalent size. They are too tight for a folded rain jacket.
I suggest that in damp or mild conditions, you wear a white compression T shirt underneath. The white fabric is a tad see-through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sub3flm Great bit of kit...
I was in the market for a new pair of bib shorts and the speed suit was on offer at about the price of a pair of bib shorts...it was therefore an excellent buy....I.e. You get the aero jersey which is sewn in for free.
It's a lot more comfortable to wear than bib shorts.
The rear pockets sit lower than normal jersey pockets so it's easier to access them
Material is very stretchy and gives a great aero fit.
Comfort breaks are easier than with bib shorts.
You can unzip the top easily to get extra air flow to your body, and you can also easily rezip it up when necessary because of the tight fit.
Only slight criticism is the white top is a bit transparent. I would have preferred the black version. The material under the arms is susceptible to clicking easily...so take care when washing it.
this really is the only main bit of kit you need for spring and summer. I have worn all sorts of clothing on the bike and I overheat / sweat big time and this garment stays dry...brilliant!!
A final note. I own Lots of Castelli clothing...gloves, jerseys, fawsome vest, San remo thermo suit etc...and I have never had to size up. If You measure right it'll fit. This kit ain't meant to be baggy and flapping around in the wind..
Get one bought...you won't want to go back to separates.
For reference, I'm approx 5"9, 68kg, 30" waist, 36" chest and the medium is spot on

I have only worn the San Remo speedsuit 2.0 on one ride so far but I’m quite impressed. Getting the sizing right is important – I am 183cm (6’0”), 72kg (158lb), 31.5inch waist, and 38.5inch chest . I seemed to fall between a medium and large on the Castelli size cart, so I chose large on the basis that Italian branded clothing is so often smaller than the stated size suggests. However, I maybe should have chosen a medium as there is a little bit of bunching up over my lower stomach when on the bike (at least my tummy has room to grow!) – but the rest of it fits fine.
Even though the overall fit is snug (as it should be), I didn’t feel particularly “exposed” or self-conscious to be wearing it on a training ride. It doesn’t have such a shiny-ish lycra look to it compared to most skinsuits that I’ve owned - which is good! One slight concern that I had was that the chamois didn’t seem to come up far around the front – so there isn’t always a great deal of “modesty” (so to speak). But on the bike, everything is “well supported” and I cannot fault the chamois or the shorts. They’re the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever owned.
When I received it, there was a bit of red dye from the ends of the legs that had smudged/leaked into a surrounding section which was a little disappointing given the high quality of the product, but it was only minor and doesn’t bother me much.
It is super comfy and feels fast (whether this is placebo or an actual benefit). The rear pockets certainly do feel a bit lower on the back than a standard jersey, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. The pockets seemed a bit small when I first tried it on, but they can fit at least as much as a standard jersey pocket and are easy to access. I appreciate the lengthy short-sleeves and the long-ish length of the shorts which will ensure that there won’t be any annoying little gaps or exposed skin when I’m wearing arm or leg warmers (the fact that this is very much a summer piece of kit notwithstanding). Assuming that it proves to be a durable piece of clothing, I will definitely be looking to buy another speedsuit in future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Daniel93 excellent product
although this is for road i use it mostly for mtb/xc over the summer, and as like a base layer over winter, i have to say this is well worth the money its excellent quality still shows even after nearly 1 and a half years worth of hard use and a million washes, is has sufficient padding and fits perfect. the padding has started to break down now so i will be buying another :)

If you're a relatively lean road racer-type build, then I don't think that there are any issues. For anyone carrying a few extra kilos, then it will show and they may need to go up a size. For me (tall but lean/thin build) it runs true to size in size Large with only a little bunching around my tummy and otherwise nice and snug - but if I wanted a super super aero skinsuit without any creases at all, I would probably go medium.
