when using the attached blackspire stinger chain tensioner, where exactly does it go?
does it go behind the chain-rings? in place of a chain ring?
what does it attach to?
I am using two chain rings and a bash guard - can i still mount the tensioner?

thanks

Answer:
This chain tensioner is designed to run mounted to your frame either by the ISCG tabs or bottom bracket. Bottom bracket mounted versions will replace one of the required spacers.

There are no issues using this item with dual rings and a bash guard. Please see the fitting instructions in the link below:

Answer:
It goes behind the chain rings and mounts either on the bottom bracket (you have to remove the bottom bracket and install it substitutng one spacer with the chainguide) or it mounts on the ISCG tabs of your frame with three screws. Check your frame to see if it has ISCG tabs and what ISCG type they are and if you don't have any you need a BB mount version. I have included a picture of the chainguide mounted to ISCG tabs for reference.

Answer:
This bike has a 9-speed drivetrain and due to the Three chainrings on the crankset; a chain with around 114Links would be ideal.

Removal of a few links may be required to fine tune the drivetrain and Quick Links could also be an option to make breaking and re-connecting the chain easier in the future once the correct sizing has been setup.

There are limited options for a chainguide for a Triple Crankset but a derailleur with a Clutch could help with chain retention.

Answer:
on your front derailier there will be 2 bolts, one marked L and the other H. these are stopper bolts. if you tighten the bolt with L next to it, it will prevent your derailler from moving past the small ring, and onto the bottom bracket. this works the same with the H bolt, it will stop it moving past the big ring. you also need to try and make sure the derailleur hasnt been prevented from getting to these rings, if you over tighten them, so try to get the right balance. it can also help if you try to use your middle ring on the front. hope this helps :)

Answer:
The only chainguide we currently stock compatible with a 44t outer ring is the MRP XCG (linked below).
SRAM announced that the XX1 system negated the need for a chainguide, although MRP have created a few options, including the G3 and Micro. We don't currently stock these, but keep an eye on the site for future updates.

Answer:
There is a significant difference in regards to the Bolt Circle Diameter (B.C.D.) of these two standards.

Note that ISCG OLD is also known as ISCG 03.

For more information on what is required for your frame; please supply some information about your bike to our Technical Department below -

Is there a 3 ring bash guard + chain tensioner to suit a 2010 lapierre zesty?

Mainly looking for a chain tensioner to suit a 3 ring setup. A bash guard would be a nice to have.

Answer:
Tensioning with a triple set-up cannot be done with a guide but we can offer some protection for the rings. Your bike has a ISCG05 mounting so you can use the below MRP bashplate.

A way of tensioning the chain could be a dérailleur replacement. If your Zesty is a 10 speed model you can use a clutch dérailleur. These are described as Shimano Shadow+.

I hoping is any of these back plates are similar. I have a XO and as reviews show it broke. So now I am trying to find parts for it which is almost impossible. So maybe I can just get G3 or G2 components. Anyone think it will fit on a XO backplate?

As the XO chain guide is a collaboration between Truvativ and MRP; these parts are fully cross compatible and will act as direct replacements.

Answer:
With no ISCG mounts, your options are limited. The front derailleur mount on your frame is "E-type" so you could use the E13 XCX+ upper guide. Depending on your choice of drivetrain, a Shimano Shadow+ or SRAM Type 2 rear derailleur will help keep your chain in tension over rough ground with the clutch mechanism.
