Answer:
You can use any Shimano 10sp Road or KMC 10sp chain, such as those linked below. For a triple ring setup you should opt for the longer version (114+ links).

Answer:
The 7901 chain has effectively replaced the 7900 and it is backwards compatible; will work with older 10-speed drivetrains.

Answer:
Ideally you should use the Shimano link pins, but you should be ok to use the KMC chainlink if you prefer. When using quick links, be sure to install them so that the arrow on the surface faces in the direction of rotation of the crank when viewed from the front.

Shimano 105 compatibility

I have an Ultegra group set on my road bike but notice the chain is a Shimano HG CN-5701. Is this Ultegra or 105 quality?
Also, I wish to change my rear cluster from a Shimano CS 570011-25 to a Shimano Ultegra 12-30. Do I also need to replace my chain ( which is not worn) to accommodate the larger diameter of the cluster?

Answer:
The 5701 groupset was part of the 105 model line.

Assuming you have enough links in your chain to run the larger sprocket then making a chain amendment would not be necessary.

Answer:
The Half Link chain can be beneficial to bike/gear setups where having the rear wheel 'slammed' in the dropouts does not allow for the chain to travel around the driver 'neatly'. However due to the design, the plates bend straight and the chain will stretch much quicker and ultimately break.

The full link chain is the stronger option but not ideal for all bike/gear setups; should you require a specific chain length for wheel placement then you could run just the one half link within the full link chain.

I am looking to replace my Cannondale SL3 9 speed chain. I am sure there are a few protocol to follow. I can't use a 10 speed chain and need to stick with a 9 speed chain.

I also like to have a removable chain link without using a chain removal tool.

Can you recommend please?

As far as i know dura ace 10 speed chains are the most reliable chains in terms of rust resistant due to its coating and build quality, so if i were to use it on my 8 speed drive chain with HG41 8 speed cassette, would there be too much of a problem because of the narrow links on the chain?

Thanks a bunch!
