The ultimate temptation, the Chris King titanium headset is hard to pass up. So, satisfy your need for reasoned analysis while still allowing yourself to succumb to the lure of inspired impulse and ask yourself: What could be better than the world's finest headset made from the universe's sexiest metal?
Produced only once or twice a year and offered only in 1 inch and 1-1/8 inch NoThreadSet models, the Chris King titanium headsets are often a little hard to come by but always worth the wait.
When Chris designed his first headset back in 1976, his idea was simply to create a headset that would last more than a season or two. No one could have known that his efforts would revolutionize the bicycle industry. The Chris King headset has been considered a benchmark of quality for thirty years. No other bicycle component can boast the longevity, performance and absolute reliability of the Chris King headset.
We manufacture each Chris King headset from materials and components evaluated precisely for use in our headsets. Each headset is developed with every attention to detail and each part of every headset is made by us. We even go so far as to make our own sealed, cartridge style bearings - a practice unheard of in the bike industry.
Our bearings are made from surgical grade stainless steel and are fully serviceable. The constant contact seals are easily removed to allow for user servicing, yet provide an impervious barrier to the worst grit and grime of riding. Our seals protect the bearings so well that we often see headsets 10, and even 15, years old that have never been serviced and still run like new. Though our offer still stands, few people ever have to take us up on our 10 year warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Is that simple.
Is this worth every cent you pay for it?
No, it doesn't.
You can easily purchase a Full-Speed-Cane-Campy thing and it will serve you as well as this one and you'll pay a quarter of even less of the price required here for it. Only...
Be aware you'll loose the privilege to use something REALLY precious and rare these days, an object made by means of criteria the modern industry simply is not capable of, an object that will be your faithful companion possibly longer then any other object you purchased in every field (planned obsolescence? Ah!).
I'm using this on my wholly titanium bike and couldn't be more happy.
To cut a long story short: if you can afford it, buy it. Is that simple.

The best headset i have ever owned. Snap installation and full bundle of joy!! The clicking sound that other users have described actully exists but only at the beginning , after the first ride it magically dissapears. Probably the bearings got lubricated right, don't know. looks excellent on my Santa Cruz Blur LT. If you can affort it, BUY it you won't be dissapointed

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous I have one of these which is now in its 5th year of service on my Litespeed Tanasi. Interestingly enough I also have the clicking problem as mentioned in another review above. I get it when turning the handle bars all the way to the left of right. But besides that its still smooth as can be. I will be getting a new one now due to a small scratch I picked up. I tried to get a replacement bottom cup but with now luck.

HA HA!!! I bought my kona coiler 04 frame with shock, hayes hfx brakes(160mm discs), fsa pig headset, raceface envolve bb ,kona stem and seat and truvativ seat post with truvativ seat clamp.
I paid £200 for all that...
I think...i'll go for my set up instead of 1 headset.
Well this maybe an amazing stem but unless ur growing money, buy it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Worth the extra?
The King Ti is about 10-15g heavier than the standard headset, and the bearings are exactly the same so its no better or worse in use than a standard one.
The only real reason you would buy this over a standard king is for bling reasons. The writing is pretty subtle compared to a standard king so its even harder for other people to spot.
It is without a doubt a wonderful product. I really love mine. But would I buy one again over a standard king? Probably not. Its hard to justify over double to cost for a headset that is no better in use.
For the bike that must have the very best of everything, then this is for you.
