Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 90 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 Good brakes but a few minor issues. The overall quality of these brakes is good. They are very good value for the price. Better quality than similarly priced Shimano brakes. The hoses supplied are long and on most bikes need to be cut down. A hose reduction kit is included in the box, however, no instructions are supplied. A video on the Clarks website shows you how to cut down Skeletal brakes ( a similar but different product) but no video for the S2. This would have been useful because the S2 has wider braded hoses and the tail piece "barb" supplied in the kit has a very narrow aperture, which I found impossible to fit around the cut hose. The result was that the hose would not go through the barb unless you made a diagonal cut across the hose and then forced it over. That meant reducing the hose length further, because after forcing the barb over the hose you then need to cut the end of the hose again so that it can fit straight into the housing. Had I known about this beforehand I would cut the hose a bit longer. The other thing to point out about this brake is that it comes with Sintered pads, which are fine if you want to wake everyone up along the route of your ride. They squeal in the wet and in the dry. I replaced them with organic pads and now my brakes are quiet as a mouse. The braded hoses rust after a few years, so be prepared to replace them. They do look impressive when they are new though. Otherwise good brakes and a bargain at the price. 02 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great stopping power Once these have been given time to bed in they are a great brake to have. For the price they offer fantastic stopping power in all conditions. Would recommend using a 203mm rotor on the front to make the most of them. Overall very pleased with the performance. 02 September 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good power, awful quality! My first mountain bike had these brakes installed as standard, at first I was very pleased with the power of braking they gave, but about 6 months later the rear brake seized and the pistons would no longer retract. I bled the system over but nothing would work. I seen crc had a sale and so I bought another rear brake. But about 6 months later again they seized again. At this stage I was ready to buy a new bike anyway. Now I use my old bike for training and only use one brake (put a longer cable on the front brake and now use for a rear brake) this shows the power they have. Personally I wouldn't buy again for an entry level brake I'd prefer tektro. Now I run avids. 16 April 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good value! Good value but no so great breaking power. The cable are huge. 15 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Bought For Budget Build These brakes were bought to finish of a bike so that it could be used. Turns out they are not shabby at all. Of course they are no Hope or Magura brake but they are a third of the price! 27 October 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Need quality disc brakes - without squeezin yor wallet! Clarks wont kill your budget and wont disappoint you. I bought a rear brake in grey and it look smahing on my dirt jumper.. Everythings there in the packet - so install, adjust and ride!!!! Woohuu best hydraulic disc brake buy EVER!!! 28 August 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Superb stopping power for a great price These are really excellent brakes for a good value. They offer significant stopping power. Ordered 203mm rear brake on my single speed bike and it really is incredible. Only down side is that disc brake pads touch the rotor heavily and it's been extremely difficult to adjust them correctly (yes I know how to do it ). Going to take it to a bike shop tomorrow and see if they can solve the problem. But my bottom line is: Superb stopping power for a great price. 05 August 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Warped after short time Cheap breaks, but I don't think they are a good buy. After a few short uses back and forth to work they stardet to get warped. Giving a pulse when breaking and squueeeeking noise since the warped disc touches the break pads on each and every rotation. 04 July 2013

Answer:
Much longer than you will need! You will need to cut it down.

See my review for details. Make a diagonal cut, so you can get the barb over the hose (as the aperture is very tight)

Answer:
Rotor size is usually down to rider preference, although some frames and forks will have a maximum rotor size that they can work with (you can check with the manufacturer of your frame/fork to check).
As a general rule, 160mm front and rear is enough for most commuting/XC use, 160mm rear and 180mm front for Enduro/AM, 180mm front and rear for Freeride, and 203mm rotors are only usually required in DH/Slopestyle riding.
