Colnago Ace 105 Road Bike

The Ace offers head-turning style with spine-saving comfort. Specifically designed to provide an easy ride for Gran Fondo riders and those who are just starting to take their cycling seriously the Ace provides a more upright and comfortable position than our standard geometries. The frame is a carbon fibre monocoque and features round main tubes and square chainstays. The study of cross-sections, combined with a careful analysis of the layout of the carbon fibres has made it possible to maximise comfort without compromising lateral stiffness for performance and riding pleasure.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by beautiful bike which lasted 25 miles before the frame broke I couldn't believe the value this bike represented when I saw it advertised, Buying it was easy; it arrived more quickly than promised, and the chain reaction package of goodies was useful and relevant. I was SO impressed until yesterday when I went for the inaugural ride: 28 miles on country roads in the chilterns. It rode like a dream: indefinably superior to my previous all carbon 105 Pinnacle, and perfectly sized. Gearing seemed good for the steeper bits, although the 105s were maybe a little notchy. So I was very happy when I got home and started to load my accessories until I noticed the two cracks in the cross bar. My mate confirmed I wasn't seeing things: I have bought a colnago that broke after 20 miles or so. So its over to chain reaction now: will the warranty team live up to the experience so far? My faith in colnago is shaken: is it like Alfa Romeo or Lancia in the 70's: all flash but unstable? 09 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Updated review The bike is still great. However, spend the extra money to go ultegra components. I have upgraded my derailers and front crank to ultegra parts. Took four minutes off my normal 30 mile times. The ultegra crank made a big difference. Going to upgrade the rear cassette and wheels next. The bike is rediculous fast and I will get it faster. I have almost 3000 miles on the bike now. Still very happy! But buy with the upgraded components! 12 July 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by AWESOME I have been nothing but pleased. Climbs well, rides fast and is comfortable. Very fast on the cranks. I have put over 500 miles on mine so far. The saddle could be more comfortable but that is a personal preference. I test road the Scotts and Treks in the same price range but neither could compete. 24 March 2012

colnago ace 105 2012.

Dear Sir / Madam re colnago ace 105 2012.
I'm interested in purchasing the above bike but saw the ultegra version. Could you tell me why the bike with just front and rear mechs and shifters upgraded to ultegra is £315 more expensive when the price difference from 105 to ultegra fro the 3 items is a lot less? Or is there other components which are ultegra that i have missed?

Answer:
The bikes are essentially the same except for the gears and shifters. The difference in price is due to Calnagos RRP, there is no upgrades on the other components on the bike so the choice of bike will be what you see as best value for money.
