Continental Grand Prix 4000 Road Bike Tyre

The star in the peloton! For the coloured GP 4000 tyres, the activated silica compound improves the handling at stability limits and gives great rolling resistance. The anti-tear formula in the rubber compound prevents tread brittleness while increasing mileage performance. The extra special thing about the GP 4000 and GP 4000 S is their puncture protection made from Vectran™ liquid crystal fibres. The patented Vectran™ Breaker reconciles the conflicting goals of low weight, low rolling resistance and top puncture and cut resistance in a fascinating manner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by feels incredible on the road Tyre roles nicely and sufficient grip even on the wet road, its an amazing smooth ride,if you pay more for quality and expect to feel and see it then this is the product you can spend that extra bit more on 02 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best you can get I have used these tyres for several years. I get excellent mileage and probably only three punctures ever. They are the best tyre I have ever used. 22 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great all over tyrse. Good all over tiers, for training and road racing in all conditions. 15 December 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Durable & Puncture Free Before having these tires, I'd pick up a puncture about once every 300KM. But every since using the Continental Gand Prix 4000, I haven't had to change my tubes in over 5 years! But the wear is visible along the side walls of the tires. The thread from the seam is gradually coming off. Good excuse to buy another set. 18 November 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Better Continental Grand Prix 4000 Road Bike Tyre are the best they are so fast plus climb like your a pro did about 1,000miles before my first puncher but i pump them up to about 130PSI then after 2,500miles the side wall split but apart from that they are great 06 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by good grip on all surfaces its a very durable tyre, definite choice for my ride. 23 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by awesome tyre Wow I have never rode a road tyre with so much grip wet or dry, it is not the lightest but it still is super light, did I mention the wear?... incredible and puncture resistance?... phenomenal! I ride hard and fast and its the best for racing, training and every day fun... best so far and I hope there will be a gp 5000. BY IT TRY IT RIDE IT BUT DON'T HIDE IT!!!! 21 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fast, reliable tyre I weigh 90kg and I'm still on my first set of these tyres & have so far covered 3000km without a single puncture. The back tyre probably has about 1000km left until it reaches the bottom of the wear indicators & the front tyre is showing no sign of wear at all. I'd highly recommend these tyres, they're very easy to fit, roll & grip very well wet or dry, and have excellent puncture resistance. 25 April 2013

Tyre colours

i was told that when the manufacturer colours the tyre. they put something onto the tyre which in turn causes it to have less grip. does anyone know if this is true?

Answer:
Yes this is correct. Coloured tyres do not have as much grip as a standard tyre due to the rubber compound and coating.

Answer:
I have always used the coloured tyres and am happy with the level of grip. I have used them for racing on tight criterium circuits. No problems.
