The legendary GP4000S tyre has been updated to include a broader range of sizes which now also benefit from the latest cutting edge rubber compounding available in the bicycle tyre industry - BLACKCHILI.
This technology is constantly evolving and what better way to introduce our latest version than to update the tyre that launched the compound back in 2007.
Featuring lower rolling resistance, higher mileage and maximum wet weather grip, riders who already use the GP4000S will continue in the knowledge that they are riding the best all-round performance road bike tyres that money can buy. Newbies to the Continental brand will gain from all the factors that make countless professional riders insist on riding Continental tyres.
The coloured versions of the tyre now also feature a BlackChili compound with the colour coding moved to the sidewall. The wide range of available colours are Pantone matched to the Fizik saddle & bar tape range for those riders who love to colour coordinate their machines.

Rated 3 out of 5 by FrKr Rolls great, punctures easily
Have tried both the 23 and the 25th and they roll excellent (especially the 25th). Good for summer rides, however the lack of efficient anti-puncture makes them unsuitable for autumn/winter.
Have also experienced problems with cracks in the rubber though only inflating to 8 bar

Rated 5 out of 5 GP4000s II
I have been staying with this tire for a while now despite a tendency to
always change. Roads in Hong Kong are not bad, but certainly not great,
but I rarely puncture with these tires. Typically I get 2000 miles on a rear tire
before changing (based on the wear indicators). And front tires go twice that
easily. I can't really comment on handling etc. Feels good to me, seems to
handle pretty well in the wet. I did switch to 25mm tires and find them better than
the 23mm in terms of ride quality. For riding on the flat I can't see much reason
to ride 23's rather than 25's. The extra weight on the hills might be a factor
at least on the uphills. Coming down is great with the wider tires.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Gussie Black Chili Compound develops cracks
From my experience with Continental tyres made with Black Chili Compound the rubber soon develops cracks on the surface which can be seen if one deflates the tyre and squeezes the sides together. This is not very reassuring if you want to inflate to a high pressure as it gives the impression that the tyre may burst.

LBS @ 70 / tire. Found as a pair which is great because I rotate and swap both when the time comes. Good replacement for the Schwable factories.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shazam1 Roll Well
I read somewhere that these were not true sizes. E.g. a 23mm comes up as 25mm and so forth. This is in fact not the case. A 23mm is in fact 23mm. Having switched from 25mm Ultremo DD's another excellent tyre, I immediately noticed that there was a more rubbery feel to the tyres and that the side walls were much more compliant. The 320 ply carcass gives a smoother ride and they roll very well. It is early days when it comes to puncture resistance but I always run Panracer flataways with my tyres as I travel long distances and really can not be doing with punctures. It is by no means a cheap tyre but then again, I do feel it is value for money. The new black sides are an improvement over the traditional brown border which I never liked.

Very robust and solid tires with very good readgrip.
From my point of view one of the best tires on the market.
