I’ve had the 2.2 Black Chilly version on my 6 inch travel trail bike for about a month now; in that time I’ve put about 50 miles on them on tarmac, in sloppy mud and in snow.
The first thing I noticed about the tyres was how light they are compared to the Michelin Downhill tyres they replaced. The weight saving alone justifies the high cost, in fact I can’t think of any other way to shed so much weight for less than £100. However, the side wall is very thin on my 2.2 version; if you ride in rocky areas I’d definitely say you want the thicker sidewall of the 2.4.
I’m running them at 40PSI which means that on tarmac they roll ridiculously well; this also helps them cut through the sloppy mud and snow we have in Bath at the moment. In fact grip in the snow has been insane; I’ve comfortably been able to brake hard enough to lift the rear wheel off the ground in 4 inches of the white stuff. I have found the traction limit a few times climbing, but that has been on very steep, slippery and rough climbs on which no tyre could be expected to grip perfectly. Grip on tree roots and wet logs has been good considering the high pressures I’m running and there are no signs of any tread wear yet (even the moulding ‘hairs’ are all still there).
So far I’ve not been able to try the tyres in dry conditions, but, other than the thin sidewalls, I’m yet to find a weakness.

Running these tyres has been a joy. Huge amounts of grip and comfort. I normally use a 2.2 on the rear and a 2.4 on the front. Rolling resistance with the 2.2 is good but a bit draggy on the 2.4. Fine for 50-60K rides though (depens on your fitness though.
Don't even try to run these tubless unless you get the specific UST ones. They will burp, deform and roll off the rim. they are not designed to be run this way. Stick with tubes and they are great!
The sidewalls on the 2.2 are a little thin and mine have always worn out at the sidewalls before lack of tread. The 2.4s seem to be holding up better as these have the Apex sidewall protection.
The 2.4 is massive! bigger than my 2.5 Conti DH tyres.
Great on really rocky terrain but in thick mud the 2.4 struggles a little so I change to a Baron.

I'm using the RQ BC front and rear and its been perfect on off camber wet roots, wet chalk, wet mud and rolls fast for whens its dry... Lightweight, good volume, fast rolling and grippy. Pricey but worth it.

Bought a pair of folding BC 2.2 's and run them on a Whyte E120 on mostly cross country, single track and the odd downhill/trail centre runs.
So far I have been more than pleased, their grip on wet roots, rocks and in thickish mud has been fantastic inspiring confidence in the tyres ability to hang in there.
Large volume for a 2.2 giving a comfy ride when suspension is locked out and also roll surprisingly well on most surfaces.
Im so impressed That I will be ordering a set in BC 2.4 for my blue pig hard tail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous excellent tyres but they are huge , even the 2.2 , so beware if clearance may be a problem , too big for my anthem x1 for example .

I got these to run tubelessly. They grip really well and roll ok. However the second time out on them I was a few yards from the car when I went round a berm quite fast and the tyre burped. This has caused a hole in the sidewall. Some sealant should fix it but after running other tyres for years without such problems I'm not too impressed.
