Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice rolling tire Bought this tire and mounted on my steel touring bike for riding on crushed gravel. I love the looks of these tires; they transformed my bike into a much meaner looking machine. They replaced my 1.5" Continental Comfort Contacts, and I expected the extra width and tread to make these a bit slower. So far I wouldn't say that the rolling resistance is noticeably worse, and the side lugs look aggressive and add traction in gravel. So far, so good. I will track my mileage to know for sure. 07 July 2014
29 December 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Smooth ride Made my commute to work far easier rather than having to deal with the original tyres that came with my mountain bike. Also have every confidence they will not easily pick up a puncture. 29 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent all round tyres for road and trail I've had these tyres for around 18 months and rode around 1,500 miles on a MTB. Previously I had Schwable Marathons on a hybrid which lasted around 5 years and used on trips through Iceland and Portugal, puncture free throughout. The conti contacts are perfect if you are a long distance touring cyclist riding a hardtail. These are perfect for road and trails, and are surprisingly grippy for slicks, even in the wet and mud. No punctures yet, but I don't think any tyre is completely puncture resistant. . The rubber is tough and keep pressure really well. I have the 1.75 size and they give an extremely comfortable ride, very smooth and efficient on tarmac. For more demanding mountain trails they also perform well, if riding on dry and fine ash trails i recommend taking the pressure down a little. So far excellent. 13 June 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great for (no) punctures Excellent tyres if you want to know punctures won't be a problem. I ride them in the city, on canal-trails and long distance on-road - all good. 26 May 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Continental Travel Contact Wire 26" Tyre Х 2шт. Wire 26" Tyre х1 Continental T.C. 06 April 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for commute, tour, no offroad I got these as Conti no longer make the Top Tour series, the best tyres I've used for touring with light XC work (gravel roads, the southern side of the Tour de Mont Blanc, etc). Those had good puncture resistance and tread all across the surface of the tyre. These ones are slick across the man surface of the tyre, with some side knobbles that don't usually ever touch the ground. On on-road use, that central area does all the work, even cornering, and it lasts years. The puncture protection forces you to scan the tyres every week or so for glass that has got pressed on and is weaselling in -the price of a totally flat tread. On gravel, the lack of tread makes it unreliable; on light mud you don't have any control over where it's going down; get off and walk on the uphills. On undulating terrain, you get both of these. Summary: great for urban use where you don't want to bother carrying a puncture kit, don't want a high maintenance tyre, but instead want something that lasts years and fits under mudguards well. For a touring tyre, not enough tread for even dirt tracks. 17 March 2013

Commuting / Fire Trail

I currently have a wider back tire on my MTB. Do you recommend the 1.75 tire for both front and back for mostly commuter and and occasional trail riding?

Answer:
I have the 1.75 on both wheels and it really makes a difference when you are mainly on tarmac, it can also cope with loose gravel and grit. Mud does require a bit of caution, as you do find they slip/spin and you can feel a bit less control if you are on a slope.
But all in all a good tyre for commuting

Answer:
A narrower tyre would be more suited to commuting than a wide tyre as you will get better rolling resistance and grip in the wet.

1.75 would be the smallest I would recommend for an MTB rim. 1.75 will perform well on a daily road commute but still give an element of cornering grip when off road.
