Rated 3 out of 5 by Worksfor a while Ok, there are several things to take into account with this dropper post, you have to look after it, keep it very clean, if it fails you can fix it but it isn't straight forward When it works it is perfect for the job, smooth and solid Have ahd to work on this one a few times since buying 18 months + ago and it still works, Compared to the 2 Reverbs I have, its not even in the same league, they have both worked flawlessly from day 1 13 June 2014
11 June 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Major design flaws If you look from the top of both the lever and the remote version, you'll notice that the lever depresses a small piston to drop/raise the post. This piston is sealed by an o-ring. But this o-ring sits at the bottom of a depression in the head of the post, meaning that the piston and o-ring are continually sitting in water/dirt/mud that is near impossible to clean. Mine died after a year. To replace that o-ring requires a 200mm long, 19.8mm diameter pin tool, which funnily enough I didn't have lying around, and neither did any bike workshop in my whole city. I made one by hacking up a spade drill bit, but the parts in the post were fused together so hard they broke my tool-grade steel bit. The seatpost was dead so I cut it apart with a hacksaw and the parts were so fused together that even when I could get on them with a big pin spanner, the pin-holes tore out and the thread was still fused together when the whole peice of junk went into the bin. This was the first time this seat-post had been apart, so I blame Crank Bros for the fused together parts. 08 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great seat post, never regretted buying ,works well I have now had mine for 4+ years and only once had to put air into it to make seat fully return to top. It slowly lost the ability to pop seat to right place, but like all things that hold air -,tyres , socks etc they need to be topped up.I brought mine from crc but live in New Zealand thought could be bothered with hassel of couriering back so discided to pull it apart an look myself,I didn't know much about how it worked as such air/over oil or just air .It had no oil leaks.Any way long story short, I played around with oil levels that didn't help and nearly gave up but discovered a cap, remove it and found an air valve and pumped it up with sock pump and its as good as new and that's 3+ years ago. It has some side ways movement in seat now but show me a seat that doesn't,the post has double seals and if cleaned which is easier than cleaning ya chain it lasts when its a problem Ill throw a kit into it .IT IS NOT HARD TO DO 10 February 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Waste of money I had a Joplin 4, and it was great....for about 2 hours. After that it developed an air leak out of the top where the seat clamp is, and became useless in no time at all. I followed CB's procedure on refilling and it stayed filled for another few hours of riding. Eventually I had to send it back to the vendor (not CR I hasten to point out) at my own cost, and they returned it to CB for repair. Two weeks later it returned but the same problem manifested itself on the first ride, so I was returned for a refund. The Joplin 4 looks fantastic, and works well, for the short time that it keeps its air and oil, but I have to say that in balance it's total junk. Get a Reverb instead, much much much better. 11 June 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product is really poor quality...It lasted 6 months before all the oil and pressure leaked out which at this price is unacceptable! I would not purchase any CB products in the future, their are much better products on the market at this price. 04 April 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Nice Design but far away in terms of maturity I had the same oil leakage as described in others review. I think CB didn´t reach basic requirements as robustness and reliability. The design appearance is very cool but it does not mean too much when downhill setup is called to dutie !!! 23 July 2012

Answer:
No, this seatpost has a lever, not a remote. If you would like a remote option, SKU318667 or SKU318666 are recommended.

Answer:
Crank brothers do not list any rail clamp replacements for their Joplin posts unfortunately; they have a maintenance kit and remote kit available from their website (http://cart.crankbrothers.com/compo...), but no replacement rail clamp.
